Gackt’s first Platinum Box release. The box includes a CD with 14 live tracks, and a VHS tape that includes the PVs and making-of documentaries for 鶺鴒 ~seki-ray~ [Sekirei~seki-ray] and 再会〜Story〜 [Saikai~Story~]. The tape also includes a short clip at the end, where Gackt is dressed in a Santa outfit and he says that for the last five years he has spent Christmas in the studio. There are a few glimpses of GacktJob, also dressed in Santa outfits, and at the end Gackt says “Merry Christmas”. There were 30,000 limited edition units.

MOON CHILD

Initial DVD release of the movie, MOON CHILD, starring Gackt and Hyde. The movie is 119 minutes long. This limited edition version was a box set that contained three discs, which included trailers, behind-the-scenes features, a documentary titled 'Children of Mallepa', an interactive photogallery, footage from premieres and other extras. The limited edition also came with a photo album with three full-color photo cards depicting scenes from the movie. This version of the DVD also included English subtitles. The movie was rereleased as a regular edition a year later, on September 25, 2004.

Platinum Box ~IV~

Gackt’s fourth Platinum Box release. Includes various clips and off-shots, including footage from the 2004 calendar shoot in Los Angeles, photoshoot for the Crescent photobook, and scenes of Gackt singing the Chinese language version of １２月のLove song [Juunigatsu no Love song] with Wang Leehom. This PB comes in a green velvet "bible" style box, and includes a deck of 54 cards in a coffin-shaped box. The playing cards are printed with pictures of Gackt, including some with his cat Mei and dog Belle Constantine Chappy.

Gackt Live Tour 2004 The Sixth Day & Seventh Night~Final~

DVD release of the Sixth Day & Seventh Night tour final held at Yokohama Arena.Includes two bonus tracks. The first is the Gackt Surprise Party, in which the winner of a contest gets to become a cat dancer during the concert. She undergoes brutal training, but has her dream fulfilled in the end when she dances alongside Gackt and the others at the tour final. The second bonus track features a hilarious collection of the various skits Gackt filmed for the intermission portion of the concert. He dresses up as a nurse, schoolgirl, baseball player, and in nothing but a towel!

Documentary DVD release for the DIABOLOS concert held in Seoul, Korea on January 14, 2006. The DVD includes backstage footage and interviews with Gackt and with his Korean fans. Also includes three photocards. The DVD was a limited release at Lawson stores.

Platinum Box ~VII~

Gackt’s seventh Platinum Box release. The DVD contains a project called “Let’s Do it together! ~Shall we “Cowboy”??~”, where Gackt, You, Chacha and Ju-ken go horseback riding and have several fun adventures together. There are scenes of them practicing their horseback riding, Gackt dressing up GacktJob in various outfits he buys for them, You cooking curry, and a hilarious segment where Gackt and GacktJob get their feet massaged. This PB comes in a red silky box, and includes a double-sided jigsaw puzzle, which, when put together, formed a clue to another puzzle. After figuring out the clue, fans were supposed to go to a website and submit their answer to the puzzle. The results of the contest were to be announced in 2007.

Documentary DVD release for the Drug Party tour held in Seoul, Korea on January 28-29, 2007. The DVD follows Gackt during his two day trip to Korea. Also includes three postcards. Sale of the DVD was limited to Lawson stores.

Gackt Training Days 2006 Drug Party~Zepp Tokyo Live

DVD release of the Drug Party live held at Zepp Tokyo in December of 2006. There was a regular version released (sold only at Amazon.co.jp) and a special Dears-only version. The Dears-only version included A4 size packaging, a 24 page photobook and a book of five postcards.

Gackt Training Days in Taiwan Drug Party Asia Tour

Documentary DVD release for the Drug Party tour held in Taipei, Taiwan on February 7-8, 2007. Also includes three postcards.

December 24 (Dears-only version)
Platinum Box ~VIII~

Gackt’s eighth Platinum Box release.  The Dears-only version was released on December 24, and the regular version was released later, on March 3, 2008.  The Platinum Box includes a DVD with footage of Gackt and GacktJob’s trip to Asakusa, called「ブラリ下克上の旅」 (burari gekokujou no tabi) (“The aimless travels of a group of rebels”[1]).  Like the previous year’s trip, this trip included many funny scenes with Gackt and his members-- eating sukiyaki and monjayaki, riding on rollercoasters at Hana Yashiki, taking pictures for bromides, among other things.  This time, though, they are accompanied by a tour guide, who had them play various games throughout the trip.  The loser of each game, of course, had to do some kind of penalty!  At the end of the trip, Gackt was quizzed on his own staff members’ complaints about him.  When he loses, he once again has to face a painful foot massage!  The DVD also includes footage of Gackt and You going to visit the winner of the last PB’s puzzle contest.  PB~VIII comes in a blue silky box, and includes a USB thumbdrive in a silver lighter-shaped holder. 

Notes:
[1] ブラリ下克上の旅 (burari gekokujou no tabi): Breaking down this phrase, the term “burari” means wandering or walking around aimlessly, “gegokujou” means juniors dominating seniors, or an upheaval where those of lesser rank supplant their superiors, and “tabi” means trip.  I chose to use the word “rebel” to reflect both the idea of an uprising against superiors, and the way Gackt and the gang are dressed (good schoolboys don’t wear their uniforms like that!).

2008:

May 21
天翔る龍の如く(Amakakeru ryu no gotoku)

Documentary DVD featuring behind-the-scenes footage of Gackt in the NHK Taiga drama Fuurin Kazan.  The DVD is divided into several chapters, each one focusing on different aspects of Gackt’s role as Kenshin: why he was chosen for the role of Kenshin, his relationship with Ogata Ken, Gackt and Kenshin’s respective philosophies on life and death, self-discipline and artistic expression.  Interspersed throughout these chapters are an interview with Gackt, interviews with various cast and crew, including the director, scriptwriter and Ogata Ken, and many scenes of Gackt filming his role as Uesugi Kenshin.  There is also footage of Gackt visiting Kasugayama and Rinsen-ji, the temple in Niigata where Kenshin studied and where his remains are buried.  There is also some brief footage of him at the Uesugi Kenshin festival held in 2007. 

The DVD includes English, Chinese and Korean subtitles. The Dears-only version came in an A4 size hardcover, and included a 24 page color booklet and a postcard book.

2009:

December 24
Platinum Box IX (Dears only version)

The Dears-only version was released on December 24, and the regular version was released later, on January 14, 2009. The Platinum Box includes a DVD wherein Gackt introduces Camui Gakuen, the “school” for which he is the student body president. As part of Camui Gakuen, Gackt and GacktJob dress up in high school uniforms and take a school trip to Yokohama where they play various games (similar to last year’s trip, where they were middle school students). Stops on their trip included a Chinese restaurant, the Equine Museum of Japan, and Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise. As usual, the loser of each game had to do some kind of penalty. At the end of the trip, they go through the results of questionnaires in which the fans ranked each of the members according to which one they believed the statement applied to the most. Gackt loses, and he once again has to endure a painful foot massage! They also introduce the idea of the Camui Gakuen Gakuensai, the live tour in 2009-2010. The DVD also includes footage of Gackt and You going to Kobe to visit the winner of a random postcard drawing. PB~IX comes in a white leather box, and includes a set of “Gackt’s Health and Beauty” cards. 44 cards have an image of Gackt and a corresponding 44 cards have a quote from him regarding some aspect of health/beauty. The Dears version included two extra cards.
