Performing on stage together for the first time – HYDE in a wedding dress and Gackt in a military uniform

  On the 31st, L’Arc~en~Ciel vocalist HYDE and singer Gackt performed together on stage for the first time. Gackt appeared as a guest in HYDE’s rock band VAMPS’ Halloween event held at Zepp Tokyo. The two co-starred in the movie Moon Child in 2003, and pumped up the one-night-only costume event (lit. world) with HYDE in a wedding gown, whose beautiful voice was backed by the powerful drumming of Gackt, who wore a military uniform.

  The charisma of these two beautiful (artists) from the world of rock merged the melody of beauty.

   The last act of the night by VAMPS, and the performance of its members HYDE and Oblivion Dust guitarist K.A.Z, brought the Halloween party to its climax. During the encore, the BREAKERZ, led by 30-year-old DAIGO, and the other performers came back on stage and the last person invited up onto the stage was “Gacchan (Gackt)” (by HYDE).

   Both of them took their first leading role together in the movie Moon Child. The two friends attend each other’s concerts and (go out for) meals together, but this is the first time they have performed together on stage. Amidst shriek-like cheers, Gackt, who looked striking in a Dutch military uniform, shook hands with HYDE and they exchanged a warm embrace.

   Gackt shouted, “Are you ready for more?” and took on the drums, which he used to play when he was in Malice Mizer and which he only plays at his own fanclub events now. “Cute? I know,” praising himself, HYDE belted out the famous song “Shout at the devil” by American band Motley Crue while riding on his good friend’s passionate drum beat. The one-song session by all the performers made the fans, who came in cosplay, wild with excitement.

   On Jan 1, VAMPS will release their first concert DVD which will include the Oct 28 Zepp Tokyo live. They also have plans to release the next single following their debut song “Love Addict” in the spring. Gackt will also release his song Jesus on Dec 3. This will be his first release in 1.5 years.
