Q: Please give us your impressions of the renewed Volvic label.
A: I heard that the design had changed, but when I actually saw it, it really hasn't changed much-- I wonder if that's what a lot of people are saying (laughs). But of course, not changing Volvic's basic image must be a serious matter. I was first attracted to Volvic because it's easier to drink than anything else, and it suited my body. Of course the design is also my favorite. In my refrigerator at home, the 500 mL bottles are stacked up with the blue caps in front, and because the bottles are square, unlike other water bottles, they can be conveniently lined up and stacked up.

Q: What kinds of things do you do when you want a diversion/change of mood?
A: When I don't have much time, I guess I usually go driving. I drive around and around on the Metropolitan Expressway, depending on how I feel at the time. It's not just driving around to let off steam[1], but it's more like enjoying the scenery. If I have time and can take three days off, I go overseas. Before deciding where to go, I immediately take just my passport and go to the airport, with the feeling of "Is there an airplane I can get on right now?" (laughs). Recently I've been going to Taiwan a lot. I have friends there, and it's nearby. When I arrive, I drive aimlessly around Taipei. If I had one month where I could travel at a leisurely pace, I'd want to visit places like Norway or the Czech Republic.

Q: Is there anything you love to do in your private life?
A: Lately I've been riding horses a lot. I used to ride often in the past, but I thought about practicing again after a long break. I especially like riding off-track, and I ride by the riverbank or in the forest that's near the riding club. Horses are like women, aren't they. Even though they may appear smart, they can be too timid[3] and sometimes won't be able to leave the arena; and even if they appear pretty, they can be too tomboyish and I won't be able to ride them. The one horse that is my favorite is quite an unruly girl[2] (laughs). At first, it seemed like I couldn't manage/control her at all, but eventually she started to listen to me, and now she's a good partner.
