Behind The Scenes - October 2005 Pati Pati Interview

The front cover and opening article this time features the album “Diabolos”. This feature was put together using the concept of “angel and devil”, the two-faced nature, as is attached[1] to the title.

The photoshoot started in the morning, which was unusual. The Pati Pati team was setting up the studio starting early in the morning. Gackt arrived on the scene after having spent an all-nighter[2] at the recording studio. Indeed, the tiredness was......as expected; as Gackt came out of the waiting room, he put forth an aura. During the scene where he slips on a white material, he said on his own, “The atmosphere would be nicer if I took my shirt off, wouldn't it.” And he faced the photographer, the upper half of his body bare, the intensity[3] as well as the hardness[4] were photographed exactly as it had been envisioned.

And then, the interview from another day. Gackt arrived at the interview location, which was a coffee lounge, and although I had expected him to have his usual mineral water, “Do you have Cassis? I'll have Cassis Oolong[5]” is what he ordered! It was a shocking moment for me, as I had never seen him drink anything other than mineral water. Moreover, he didn't just have one, he quickly drank it up and said, “I'll have the same,” another Cassis. As he finished the second glass, I thought, “He's going to have another Cassis!” but the words that came out of Gackt were, “I'll have an espresso.” He would lose interest in it if he had two of those as well. (laughs)

Putting that aside, this time, I conducted the interview without having heard all the songs on the album that were touched upon in the article; for that reason, I believe the feature became one that is filled with Gackt's precious message, which he was able to share with us. While hoping that out of these 18 pages, something will move you, I believe that when the album reaches me, I will take my time and listen to it while drinking some Cassis Oolong. (laughs)
