On October 31 (Friday), VAMPS, a group headed by rock band L’Arc~en~Ciel vocalist HYDE, held a Halloween event called “NIGHTMARE OF HALLOWEEN” at Zepp Tokyo, with Gackt appearing as a special guest. This is the first time HYDE and Gackt, dressed in a wedding dress and a military uniform respectively, have performed together. BREAKERZ, led by DAIGO, and Tsuchiya Anna also performed in Halloween costumes, bringing much excitement to the one-night-only costume party.

In the hall packed with guests dressed in maid and gothic Lolita costumes in full Halloween swing, the BREAKERZ opened the concert with a cover of Shuuchisin’s self-titled debut song, wearing the group’s costumes with just the right effect. Next up was Tsuchiya Anna who mesmerized the audience with the “ladies costume” she wore in the movie “Shimotsuma Monogatari” (known overseas as “Kamikaze Girls”) as Ichigo Shirayuri.

VAMPS performed last and HYDE appeared in a blood-stained bridal gown based on the image of “a bride coming back to life from the grave”. As the fans released high-pitched screams of “(You look) cute~” HYDE replied, “I think I like (the way) this looks. I can get used to this,” while showing off his “feminine side” by swaying his hips. He sang all 10 songs, including their debut song “Love Addict” accompanied by the intense guitar (performance) of K.A.Z.

During the encore, all the performers came back on stage and performed a session just for that night. Gackt also joined the others on stage as special guest and exchanged a warm embrace with HYDE. Both of them took their first leading role together in the movie Moon Child released in 2003, but this is the first time they have performed together on stage. For the last song of the night, they performed Motley Crue’s hit song “Shout at the devil” and HYDE did the vocals while Gackt took the drums for the first time in public before they ended the once-in-a-year celebration.
