In the beginning of the 16th century, there existed on this world a small number of blood relatives that possessed special abilities. As the world was then experiencing a time of war, their bodies were ousted[1] from that world by those who tried to grasp and use that power, and by those who feared it.
Crossing over the ocean countless times, they pursued a new land where they could live peacefully; but they could not escape from the fate that they themselves carried, and the decision was passed down within the clan to drop their bodies into the darkness, without leaving anyone behind, and to continue existing.
In order to survive, they put their hands to all of the dark work that was possible, and before long, they gained their position in that world. In time, they became legends in the dark world and the people called them DARTS ~Darkside Inhabitants~[2]. They lived in the darkside of the era; that form was revealed in the shadow of the era.
However, within the expanding family, an internal conflict gradually began; they did not know that the hateful conflict would continue and lead to the result, which was the loss of many lives.
The survivors, who had predicted beforehand "ruin"[3], stopped the fighting, and in order to save blood[4], they sealed their own memory of DARTS. They erased their form from the world of darkness and the history of the clan appeared to be over.
Notes:
[1] "mi o ouwareru": could mean either that they were ousted, or that they ousted themselves from the world. Either way, they were driven out as a result of those outside forces that were trying to use their powers and that were afraid of their powers.
[2] "yami no jyuunin": literally, resident/inhabitant of the dark. The phrase "Darkside Inhabitants" is used as a label for Gackt's h-darts jewelry line.
[3] "horobi": ruin; perish; destroy.
[4] "chi o nokosu": save the blood, in the sense of setting it aside or leaving it behind.
