Gackt debuts in Hollywood as a supporting character

It was announced on April 22 that musician Gackt (age unknown) will be making his debut in Hollywood as an actor. He will appear as a supporting actor in Josh Hartnett’s (29) (US movie “Pearl Harbour”) latest movie, “Bunraku. (To be released in US next year) He has already joined the location in Romania and revealed impressive acting skills (to the crew).

Gackt has been recognized world-wide as an actor.

Gackt’s Hollywood debut, “Bunraku”, is a major film starring Hollywood-representatives, such as actor Josh Hartnett, who gained fame through “Pearl Harbour” (2001) and actress Demi Moore from “Ghost” (1990). Among these (major Hollywood artists), Gackt was chosen as the supporting actor.

Josh plays the role of a wanderer and Gackt plays his partner, YOSHI, a samurai who follows the traditional Japanese Bushido. He was chosen for this role because the director and scriptwriter Guy Moshe fell in love at first sight with Gackt’s enthralling performance of Uesugi Kenshin in last year’s NHK Taiga drama “Fuurin Kazan”.

This is a unique action movie based on the theme of bunraku, Japanese traditional puppet theatre. The director, who was looking for an actor for Josh’s partner, saw that on top of his acting skills, Gackt’s looks also fit the role visually and so he came all the way to Japan to negotiate his appearance in the movie. Gackt was touched by the director’s zeal and consented willingly to the role.

As for his music career, he has already advanced world-wide. His songs were made available on iTunes in 22 different countries all over the world from last year. Acting-wise, this second movie of his will open the doors to Hollywood.

Gackt promised us a riveting performance, saying, “I feel honoured that my new expression of Uesugi Kenshin has been recognized by the world. I want to prove that my acting skills and performance are of the same level as these Hollywood-representatives. Please wait with high expectations.”

Filming has already started and Gackt has also joined the location in Romania. This movie will be released next year in the US and the Japanese release will be announced as soon as the distributor for the film has been decided.
