This was Gackt’s very first appearance on Hey!Hey!Hey!. It started with Matsumoto making fun of Gackt by saying he is standing like a mannequin modeling men’s underwear. They point out one of Gackt’s huge bodyguards in the audience, and then Matsumoto makes fun of the way Gackt is staring at one spot on the floor the entire time. Matsumoto exclaims how large “it” is, after which Gackt grabs Hamada’s hand and shows him that he is wearing a cup over “it”. Gackt performed Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto accompanied by GacktJob. He wore a brownish button up shirt and tan leather pants. His hair was straight and a medium brown. Although he may have appeared stiff and nervous during the talk portion, his performance was fun and energetic. The audience loved it when there was an explosion of sparkles in the middle of the performance.

In this episode, Gackt talks about things he’s very particular about. The first is his guitar; he designed his guitar to look like a female’s body when the guitar is turned upside down. The second is his underwear; he doesn’t usually like to wear underwear, but when he does, he wears g-strings because they are comfortable. Gackt performed Another World wearing the black and white shirt and white pants he wore in the PV. His hair was also styled similarly to the way it looked in the PV. He was accompanied by GacktJob who wore similar clothing. The set was decorated with white scaffolding-like towers that were draped with white cloths that blew in the wind.

When Gackt is introduced, he does his rawr thing, and all the girls go crazy. Hamada makes fun of them for screaming just because he opens his mouth. They talk about what he does for Christmas, and because he doesn’t like sweets, they bring out a kimchee cake for him. Hamada and Matsumoto do not enjoy eating it! Then they go through various clips of his appearances in the past. Finally, they bring out a gift from Gackt called a “Gackt kit”, which is an outfit that is supposed to make you look like Gackt. Matsumoto puts on to everyone’s amusement. Gackt performed Juunigatsu no Love Song accompanied by GacktJob. He wore a long black coat with a big furry collar, and his hair was reddish and spiky.

(unknown year)
For this game, called Music Mixture, Gackt and Matsumoto are on a team together. In the game, they play four songs simultaneously, and the teams have to name each of the songs that are played to get points. Gackt and Matsumoto fall behind in points quickly, and Matsumoto complains that Gackt isn’t trying. Gackt responds by asking what they are supposed to be doing. Hamada then explains the rules to Gackt as if he is too slow to understand. Unfortunately the clip ends before the final question!

April 29, 2002
Gackt’s appearance, as usual, makes the girls in the audience scream, causing Hamada to ask them what’s so great about him, to which the audience replies “Everything!!” Hamada asks Gackt if he’s wearing his protective cup, and tries to feel for it~ Gackt then grabs at Hamada’s crotch in retaliation. They talk about the Dears fanclub trip to Hawaii, how Gackt went drinking with Yoshiki, and about Gackt’s Fuji Film commercial. Gackt performed Wasurenaikara at the end accompanied by GacktJob. He wore the black and white leather jacket he wore in Moon Child, and black leather pants. His hair was blonde and straight.

June 24, 2002
In this appearance, Gackt plays a game of billiards against Matsumoto. He comes out wearing a black and purple three piece suit, and carrying his “my cue”. They both play seriously, with Gackt famously yelling “f***!!!” after missing one of his shots. The match is close, but Gackt wins two out of three games to win the title of King of Billiards. He performed Lu:na wearing the long black leather coat from the Kagen no Tsuki tour. Gackt does a lot of choreographed dancing and acrobatics together with two of his dancers wearing white masks. It was a very exciting performance that was almost like being at one of his lives.

December 23, 2002
This was the Hey!Hey!Hey! Christmas special for 2002. There was a quiz game against other musicians including Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki, Chemistry, Da Pump, Morning Musume, Kuzu, and one of the hosts, Matsumoto. Gackt got questions about Shounen Jump, Mariah Carey (she loves teppanyaki!), and “one” right and won the game. Next Gackt played a shooting game against Hamada and Matsumoto, where they have to shoot tennis balls to knock over some dolls for points. Of course Gackt ends up winning this game too! He performed two songs; December Love, and Itsuka no Merry Christmas, a “dream collaboration” duet with Namie Amuro. He wore a black leather jacket and white shirt underneath during the game portion and the duet with Amuro. He wore a long black coat with a furry collar for his performance of December Love. He performed the song outdoors, in front of a beautifully lit staircase and Christmas tree.

February 24, 2003
This was a special episode of Hey!Hey!Hey! filmed at Universal Studios Japan, and shown on two days. On the first day, Gackt and other artists played various games including a silhouette guessing game (he guessed Michael Jackson correctly), and Pictionary (he drew a funny looking Spiderman). The rest of the games were shown on the March 3, 2003 episode of Hey!Hey!Hey! (see below). Gackt wore a heavy black furry coat, and his hair was dark and cut short.

March 3, 2003
This was the second episode filmed at Universal Studios Japan. They played a game where each team has to form the name of a movie by arrange blocks. Gackt’s team loses, and they have to get on the Jurassic Park ride and count the dinosaurs as punishment. Gackt has a really bored look throughout the ride, even as they go down the huge drop at the end. He explained he looked that way because he was busy concentrating on counting the dinosaurs! They also played a movie title guessing game, and Gackt does really well, getting several of the answers correct. He performed Missing with GacktJob in the street at USJ, wearing a small furry jacket with red shirt underneath, and baggy khaki pants. The rest of the band are also wearing casual clothing. Gackt gave an emotional, vulnerable performance.

March 17, 2003
In this episode, they first talk about the previous appearance at USJ. Gackt says he knew all the answers to the movie title guessing game because he watches, and owns, a lot of movies. He then talks about jumping really high while snowboarding, and jumping on his trampoline . He even brought drawings to demonstrate the way he jumps on his trampoline. Gackt wore a red and yellow silk jacket adorned with tigers, and dark sunglasses. His hair was dark and straight. Gackt and GacktJob performed Kimi ga Oikaketa Yume.

September 22, 2003
Gackt appeared in this 400th episode special looking much different than usual in baggy pants, baggy sweatshirt and black knit cap. During the talk, they look back at a clip of Gackt’s first appearance on Hey!Hey!Hey!, and then they take a look at his huge bodyguards. Gackt performed Kimi no Tame ni Dekirukoto. Although it was a huge venue, he immediately jumped off the stage and walked out into the audience to get closer to them. He seemed to really enjoy this performance, and the audience loved the fireworks that shot up from the stage in the middle of the song.

December 23, 2003
Gackt appeared on this Christmas special of Hey!Hey!Hey! During the talk portion he first tells the story about a batsu game he played while in Hokkaido during his tour. The game was to go to a convenience store wearing a t-shirt (it was snowing outside), get an anpan (bean paste bread), slam it down at the register and say “touchdown!”. Matsumoto and Hamada both seem unimpressed and bored with the story, making Gackt complain that he is doing his best! Next Gackt brings out a present that will be given to one of the guests. He brought his pool cue, and the winner was Chemistry. Gackt performed the Chinese language version of Juunigatsu no Love Song. He wore a long black coat with Mandarin collar, and his hair was dark brown. He was accompanied by GacktJob, who were also wearing long black coats. The stage was decorated with colorful Christmas lights in the shape of a Christmas tree. He also performed Last Song, accompanied by Chacha and You on acoustic guitars. He wore a casual gray sweater and his hair was brown. The stage was lighted with green lasers, and the floor was covered with white fog.

February 23, 2004
In this appearance, Gackt first talks about going snowboarding. He talks about how it was scary and difficult the first time. Someone recognized him and said “Aa, Gackt!”, and then Gackt crashed, and the person said, “Oh I was wrong.” He also says how annoying it is when people point at him and say “Gackt!” without adding a kun, san or chan. He then talks about getting food poisoning that was so bad he couldn’t walk to the toilet, but had to drag his body there. He performed the Sixth Day version of Vanilla wearing a black suit with red pinstripes, and no shirt underneath, the same one he wore during the Sixth Day Seventh Night tour. The performance was sexy and exciting, with a lot of dancing by Gackt and GacktJob, and a lot of suggestive moves by Gackt. There were bursts of smoke from the ceiling and floor, and men were standing in the audience shining flashing lights onto the stage.

May 4, 2004
During the first part of the talk, Gackt talks about how he sleeps for only about two hours a night. He says he likes to windowshop in the middle of the night. He next demonstrates a couple of Jackie Chan moves, like doing pushups on his knuckles. Matsumoto attempts the same move but he looks like he’s in a lot of pain, unlike Gackt who did it very easily. Then they ask Gackt if he likes bowling, and he says he doesn’t like the style~ he doesn’t like the way the shoes are white with a blue stripe because it doesn’t look good with his all-black clothes. Gackt performed the Seventh Night version of Last Song to his own piano accompaniment. He wore a black and silver striped shirt and his hair was short and brown. He sat in the middle of a circular stage, with the audience surrounding him.

September 27, 2004
Gackt appeared on the 10th Anniversary special at Saitama Super Arena. Before his talk portion, they showed a clip where Namie Amuro tricked Matsumoto into touching an electrified plastic tennis racket. They brought it out and made Gackt touch it to see his reaction. At first Gackt didn’t want to touch it, but he finally does! He looks angry, making Amuro afraid to sit next to him. During his talk portion, they show a clip of the King of Billiards episode, and Gackt says he doesn’t play billiards much anymore. He also talked about falling asleep during the show because he had taken too much cold medicine. Morning Musume poked him to wake him up. Gackt performed Kimi no Tameni Dekiru Koto wearing a black suit with red pinstripes. He jumped into the audience like he did in 2003, and sang to some lucky fans up close.

November 8, 2004
This episode featured the Gackt versus Matsumoto No Laughing Contest. Before the contest, Hamada tries to make Gackt laugh by tickling him, but gets no reaction. Gackt insists that he does laugh, and gives a demonstration of his laugh, “hahaha.” For the contest, Gackt and Matsumoto had to watch various skits without laughing, with Hamada acting as the judge. Surprisingly, Gackt was the first to laugh, but he hung on to win over Matsumoto. Matsumoto’s reactions to the skits were hilarious, and he was dying from trying to hold in his laughter. Gackt kept his cool, but started laughing uncontrollably at one point because he was looking at Matsumoto’s face. We got to see a lot of smiling Gackt in this episode! Gackt won a trip oversees, and Matsumoto had to drink noni juice as punishment for losing. Apparently the juice was really stinky and tasted terrible. Gackt performed Kimi ni Aitakute, accompanied by You on guitar. He wore a black leather jacket and black leather pants. His hair was dark and parted in the middle.

February 7, 2005
Gackt is the champion of the week on this episode of Hey!Hey!Hey! First, Hamada is amazed by Gackt’s sunglasses because they go in the ear rather than around the ear. Gackt explains that he designed the sunglasses. During this part, Matsumoto kept commenting that he could see Gackt’s nipple from where he was sitting (Gackt’s shirt was buttoned down pretty low). Gackt brought photos from a snowboarding trip which hilariously show how he crashes, gets lost, finds a ramen shop, cooks his own meal, and pays for the meal with an autograph. During the next part, he’s asked various questions by people who are all named Gakuto. He’s asked what kind of girls he likes (girls who speak nicely), if he ever gets nervous (he doesn’t like being on talk shows like this because the cameras are so close and he worries that a rifle may be hidden in them!), and if he’s had tears of sadness (he brushed his teeth with denture cream) and if he’s had tears of happiness (one of his staff gave him a laptop for his birthday). Throughout the show, Hamada and Matsumoto made fun of his hand motions when he was explaining things, saying that he has all these interesting new moves. One of the moves was when Gackt demonstrated how his toothbrush was stuck to his teeth when he brushed with denture cream, and another of the moves was when he was explaining that the denture cream tube has wavy lines on it. A full translation of this clip can be found in the Translations section. Gackt performed Arittake no Ai de accompanied by You, Chacha and Ju-ken. He wore a pink white and black floral print shirt and pink tinted sunglasses. His hair was long, dark and flowy. He doesn’t perform it on the stage, but right in the middle of the audience. At one point, he climbs into the seats, and sings next to some very happy and excited fans.

Gackt and Yoshiki appeared together in this special episode of Hey!Hey!Hey!, called Hoshi no Restaurant. They recommend their favorite foods from three restaurants, and those dishes are cooked for them and Downtown. Gackt’s first recommendation is Xiao Long Bao from Da Hong Yun Tian Tian restaurant. He demonstrates how you eat it without losing the soup inside (he gets mad at Matsumoto when he eats it wrong!). Gackt says he can eat 60 pieces at one time. Gackt’s second recommendation is cha shu ramen from Nagahama Ramen Miyoshi in Kyoto. Gackt demonstrates how you add all kinds of things to the ramen like red ginger, tenkasu and curry powder (and he gets mad at Matsumoto again for putting in black pepper). Gackt’s final recommendation is apple sherbet from Jojoen Yuugentei. He insists that the lid and the skin is the best part (even though it’s just apple). Yoshiki jokes that Gackt is probably drunk at that point. A full translation of this clip can be found in the Translations section. Gackt wore an all white suit during the food portion of the show. His hair was long, brown and wavy. Gackt and the band performed Metamorphoze wearing black coats with gold trim. For most of the performance, Gackt is seen behind a flickering yellow flame, a very cool effect.

January 23, 2006

In this episode, Gackt first talks about buying a sofa in Australia. He said it was pretty large and orange, though it was actually bigger than he first thought it was. They show an old clip where Gackt had talked about his house and all the crazy things he had in it. He then shows pictures of his house, including his fountain, super king size bed, huge bath tub and huge closet which has couches and a piano. Hamada and Matsumoto are shocked and amused by the extravagant things in Gackt’s home. They next bring out guests that have some connection with Gackt. The first is the comedy duo, キャイーン. They talk about how they met on a program and exchanged phone numbers. Gackt called Amano and they went driving together to Umi Hotaru, where they did purikura. Gackt said it was the first time he did purikura, and he was caught fixing his hair when the camera went off. The next guest they bring out is Tanimura Shinji, the musician who held a concert in China in 2002, at which Gackt performed. They talk about meeting each other for the first time, and their impressions of each other. Tanimura says he thinks Gackt should smile more often because he has a nice smile. Downtown comments how Gackt does smile more now than he did in the past. Gackt insists that he is a really smiley person. For the talk portion, Gackt wore a brown jacket with red turtle neck underneath, and pink tinted sunglasses. His hair was long and brown, and smoothed back. Gackt and GacktJob performed Redemption. Gackt and the band wore the black and red Dirge of Cerberus outfits they wore during the DIABOLOS tour. Gackt’s hair was also styled in cornrows with curly extensions, just like during the tour, and he used the specially designed mic.

April 3, 2006
Gackt appeared on the Hey!Hey!Hey! 500th episode special. During the short talk portion, they showed clips from the previous episode where Gackt showed pictures of his house. As Gackt is trying to explain why he has such a huge bath in his house, Hamada and Matsumoto tease him about how he’s speaking so softly for someone who lives in such a huge house. Gackt says he wanted the bathroom to be large and to resemble an ocean. Gackt performed Love Letter wearing a white and brown fur trimmed coat and black shirt and pants underneath. His hair was brown and choppy. He was accompanied by You, Chacha and Ju-ken playing acoustic instruments. Feathers came falling down at the end of the song.

September 24, 2006
Gackt appeared on the Hey!Hey!Hey! 13th year special. Throughout the show, each guest or group asks a question of one of the other guests. The first question to Gackt is from Sukima Switch. They ask him (referring to him as "Gundam mania Gacktsan") to please tell them his favorite line from Gundam. Gackt quotes a line from Char. Next question to Gackt is from Amuro Namie~ "Gackt does everything on a large scale; do you take any measures in case of an emergency?" She wants to know what he would take with him if there was an emergency and he needed to escape. Gackt says, "Things like water..." and Downtown says "That's so ordinary!" Gackt's question is for Yamada Yuu. His question is: "How is your grandma?" Gackt says his mom and Yuu-chan's grandma are close friends. Five years ago, he got a phone call (from his mom I believe), and was told "there's a model, so go out to dinner with her", Gackt thought "it's like a meeting for an arranged marriage," so he didn't want to. Turns out it was Yuu. Hamada asks Yuu if she went to dinner with him, and she said her grandma didn't watch TV, so she didn't know anything about Gackt. So her grandma said she wouldn't give her phone number to some guy she doesn't know. Afterwards, she told her grandma "It's GACKT!!" Gackt performed Redemption with short spiky hair and wearing a black sleeveless shirt and black leather pants. Although he wasn’t wearing the usual Dirge of Cerberus outfit, he still used the specially designed mic.

October 16, 2006
In this episode, they first talk about the previous show (the 13th year special), and how Gackt fell asleep during that show (for about five minutes). He also says he had a bad impression of DJ Ozma at first, because he hadn’t heard many good things about him, but he went on his radio show and found he was a good guy. Gackt then talks about talking to Koda Kumi who asked what he eats, and he says “vegetables.” Next they talk about his love for Gundam. Downtown are perplexed by his love for Gundam, and they keep asking him what’s so great about Gundam. They show a few clips of Gundam, and then bring out three super Gundam fans, who are all dressed as characters from Gundam. The three Gundam fans start talking enthusiastically about the storyline and characters, which Gackt understands completely. Gackt says that he has gone drinking with the voice actors for Char and Amuro, making the Gundam fans extremely jealous. They also show a clip where Gackt does some voice acting himself for a Gundam scene. Next, they bring out a big Gundam model, and they play jyan ken to see who gets to keep it. Unfortunately, Gackt loses! Next, they bring out another guest, Naoko Ken, who is good friends with Gackt. She talks about going out to eat together, coming to the special to see him, and how she wants to see his house. She also talks about how he always looks good, to which Gackt responds by saying he looks good even when he’s picking his nose. Gackt performed Doomsday wearing a long black coat and white shirt underneath. His hair was short and brown. Gackt sounds a bit off key at first, but warms up as the song goes on. There are flashing lights and bursts of smoke throughout the performance.

June 18, 2007
Gackt was in a short segment of this episode called the Telephone Box. He walks into a red phone booth and answers the ringing telephone. The voice on the other side says, “Good evening Gackt!” Then it tells him that DJ Ozma was saying that Gackt was sleeping while he was talking. Gackt responds by saying, “What’s with that guy~~ I’ll kill him.” Next the voices tells him about the times when he talked about his huge house, and asks if he has moved since then. Gackt says he is currently remodeling, and wants to make the study bigger. The voice asks him how big it is, and he says you can play dodgeball inside. Next the voice says that he’s always wearing accessories and asks him if he has a favorite brand. Gackt says, “A brand that chooses its wearer!!” They show some jewelry from the Darts store, including his favorite necklace and ring. Next the voice asks him about the PV for RETURNER~闇の終焉~, and Gackt says it was crazy, that they filmed for 28 hours consecutively. He says the staff wanted to kill him!

November 12, 2007
The talk portion of this appearance was short, but covered many topics! First, Gackt talks about having a dojo put into his house. He had the first floor of his house completely demolished to have it put in, and his own private instructor, as well as other teachers, come to his home to use the dojo. Next Gackt tells a hilarious story about his encounter with a really hard snack. He saw a table with snacks on it in the studio, and because he was hungry, he took a package and started eating it. He thought they were rice crackers, but they were extremely hard! So hard that he felt like he was fighting with the cracker. There were five crackers in the package, and by the fourth one, he wondered why it was so hard and finally looked at the package. On the package it said "large size" and "small size", and Gackt wondered, “Which one am I?" XD Turned out it was a dog snack ('large size' and 'small size' referring to large breed and small breed dogs). And as Gackt is saying how he ate four, Hama shouts "realize it sooner!!" Next, Exile asks Gackt about things they have heard about him. First, he says he's heard Gackt carries four cell phones. Gackt confirms it's true. Matsumoto says it must be nice to have so many friends (so many that he needs four cell phones!). But Gackt says: "not really because I hardly ever get any calls..." XD Next, the Exile guy says he heard Gackt has five humidifiers in his dressing room backstage and it's like a tropical rainforest in there. Gackt says he is pretty concerned about his throat, so he has all those humidifiers. And recently the number of humidifiers he owns has increased. He says that when he uses them in hotels, it does become like a rainforest, and when he wakes up, (it's so humid that) the water droplets fall onto his face!

Gackt performed Ai Senshi, which is a cover of a Gundam theme song from 1981. He explained that he recorded the song as a birthday gift to the creator of Gundam, Tomino Yoshiyuki (Ai Senshi is on the album 0079-0088, which also contains two other covers of Gundam theme songs, as well as six other Gundam-related Gackt songs). He and GacktJob performed outdoors, on the roof of the studio where Hey3 is filmed. Because of the setting, the stage was simple, with just a few colored lights and blasts of smoke from the front of the stage. Gackt was wearing a black leather jacket over a white t-shirt, and black leather pants. He sounded excellent in this performance, and gave a refreshingly energetic performance. He was accompanied by You and Chacha on guitars, Ryu on drums, and guest bassist Nell (Ju-ken’s schedule kept him from performing).
