アリソナの魔法 (Arizona no Mahou) (2004)

Gackt is the guest on this episode of Arizona no Mahou. When he first comes on, he cooks grilled meat (he likes the restaurant Yamato in Tokyo that serves this) and eats it with some kimchee. For the rest of the show, they show Gackt's first experience learning how to wakeboard. He arrives on horseback, and learns from pro wake boarder Kiyomi Suzuki. When he starts out, he is nervous because he hates the water, and because he has never shown himself learning something like this. He does really well from the beginning, but struggles with jumping. After taking several spills, he finally takes a break and then eventually hits the jumps. He says that the next thing he wants to try is skyboarding. He performed the Seventh Night version of Last Song wearing a black and silver striped shirt. He played to his own piano accompaniment, on an empty stage.

May 22, 2005
In the interview portion of this show, Gackt first talks about his friends that he considers family, and how they have helped him. The host then asks him what he likes in a girl, and he says the way she speaks is most important. He talks about how these days people don’t communicate with each other anymore, and how that affects the way they speak. A full translation of this clip can be found in the Translations section. For the special live, Gackt and the band performed Metamorphoze, Another World and Black Stone. They wore the Metamorphoze outfit (long black coat with gold trim) for all three songs. Gackt’s hair is medium length, dark brown and pulled back on the sides. The performance of Black Stone is very passionate, as Gackt falls to his knees during a key moment in the song.

僕らの音楽 (Bokura no Ongaku) (June 5, 2004)

During the interview portion of this show, Gackt talked about how he first got into music, his feelings about being from Okinawa, the meaning behind the song Mirror, and his lifestyle/aesthetics. He talks extensively about how he has regained his pride in being an Okinawan. He wore a pink and black floral shirt and his hair was straight and brown. There is also a short clip of Gackt on the roof of Studio Ebis. He performed the Seventh Night versions of Last Song and Mirror. He wore a black and silver shirt and black pants for those performances. For Last Song, he sang to his own piano accompaniment. For Mirror, he sang in a club-like setting, with dancers on the stage with him clapping and dancing along, and the audience was surrounding them, also clapping and dancing. For his third song, he did a special collaboration with Okinawan sanshin player, China Sadao. They performed Shima Uta, a song originally written by the band The Boom. They were accompanied by two traditional Okinawan singers, who started off by singing two verses from the Okinawan folk song Tinsagu nu Hana.

Gackt then talks about snowboarding, how he hates it when girls whip out their cell phones to check email as soon as the guy leaves, and how the first song he sang karaoke to was “Mou ichido kisu shitakatta” by B’z. Gackt appeared on the CDTV New Years Eve special. First they showed him and other artists coming out of the NHK studio (where the Kouhaku Utagassen was taking place), and then there was a short talk portion (but Gackt didn’t do much talking). Gackt wore a leopard print furry coat and dark sunglasses. His hair was big and frizzy, the way it looked in the Arittake no Ai de PV. Gackt performed Kimi ni Aitakute outdoors with You. It seemed to be very cold, with snow melting on the ground around them. He wore a long black coat, and the backdrop was the lights from the tall building behind him. Gackt then performed Papa Lapped a Pap Lopped, wearing a pinstripe suit. He was accompanied on stage by his dancers, wearing white masks. It was a very energetic and exciting performance, with Gackt noticeably out of breath afterwards.

Chanoma Girls (2002)

Gackt appeared on this show wearing a white short sleeve shirt and black pants, and his hair was blonde and straight. The Chanoma girls greet Gackt with a drawing they did of him, to which he responds that it looks nothing like him. He impresses them with his Chinese speaking skills, and he talks about how he likes Chinese food and goes to Bairin Gyouza restaurant. The girls cook him an eggplant and green pepper stirfry dish, and an egg and tomato stirfry dish. He is somewhat satisfied with the dishes~ Then they talk about his house (big and dark), driving, dating and marriage (he has no interest in it), the Wasurenaikara PV (he loves motorcycles), and the MOON album. At the end he’s asked what the C in Gackt.C stands for, and he basically avoids answering the question.

Chart Busters

May 10, 2003
In the first part of this clip, Gackt, Hyde and the director of Moon Child show up at a screening of the movie at a theatre in Fukuoka. The audience is very excited to see them there! The second part is an interview with Gackt and Hyde. When Hyde is asked what the hardest part of making the movie was, he answers that reading the script was the hardest. He went to Gackt’s house to read the script, but it was so dark he had to read the script using a Zippo lighter. Gackt talks about how he always knew Hyde would be good in the movie. He also talks a little bit about the movie itself, and some clips of the movie are shown. Gackt was dressed in a tan jacket and pants, and wore a tan patterned shirt underneath. His hair was dark brown and straight.
