12月のLoveSong (12Gatsu no Love Song)
This PV is unique in that Gackt is only glimpsed for a few seconds, while You is prominently featured. The real stars of the PV, though, are the people of New York City. Filmed in New York City after the September 11th terrorist attacks, this PV is memorable for the signs of peace and love displayed by the people. They hold up signs declaring their love and wishes for peace. Within the video is a story of the friendship between You and Gackt, represented by the letter You writes and by their meeting at the park bench. Also memorable is Gackt’s spikey red hairstyle of 2001. The PV was released on December 16, 2001.

ANOTHER WORLD
Being a preview for Moon Child, this PV touches on some of the themes of
that movie. The PV opens with scenes of four friends driving around and having
fun together. But they soon run into trouble with the mafia, and all of Gackt’s
friends are killed. Like Sho in the movie, Gackt’s character in the
PV is left alone, and he takes revenge on the mafia boss. After gunning down
the mafia boss, he is seen driving away, wounded. Gackt’s clothes in
the PV are reminiscent of the clothes he wore as Sho in Moon Child The PV
was filmed in Hong Kong, and was released on September 5, 2001.

ありったけの愛で
(Arittake no Ai de)
A wedding ceremony interrupted by a knife-wielding ex-boyfriend, a mini-Gackt sitting in an old man’s ear, a Gackt impersonator, and a happy ending (thanks to mini-Gackt coming to the rescue), all come together in one of Gackt’s strangest yet funniest PVs to date. All of that is topped off with Gackt successfully pulling out a tablecloth from beneath his place setting, a feat that took many tries and garnered the real life applause of the wedding guests. Oh and let’s not forget the poofy hairstyle that he didn’t keep for very long. The PV was filmed in Toranomon, Japan, and was released on January 26, 2005.

BLACK STONE
Being a song dedicated to Gackt’s driver, Junior, it is only appropriate
that this PV takes place inside the trailer of a big-rig. Gackt and GacktJob
are energetically playing the song inside the truck, unbeknownst to the driver.
When Gackt bangs into the wall of the trailer, causing it to ripple, the driver
stops and looks inside but finds nothing. Gackt is wearing the outfit he would
wear during the DIABOLOS tour, and but instead of cornrows, he has long hair
pulled back and two lobster antennae. The final shot has Gackt holding up
a cross necklace as the truck drives away. The version of the PV included
in Platinum Box IV had brief glimpses of Junior himself. The PV was filmed
in Sydney, Australia, and was released on April 27, 2005.

Ghost
The theme of this PV ties in with the story of Requiem et Reminiscence II, as is evident from the red-eyed cyborgs. Interspersed with this story are scenes from the American television series “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, for which Ghost is the theme song (in Japan). As the PV begins, we see a janitor with a bucket and mop, mopping up glass shards on the floor of a locker room. He flips a switch, which, unbeknownst to him, begins to “charge” up Gackt and his four fellow dancer cyborgs. The janitor continues mopping, and we see the five cyborgs with their glowing red eyes and wearing long dark coats in the background. The end of his mop hits a red button, which causes the cyborgs to start moving as electricity shocks them in lightning-like strikes from above. The bolts of electricity shatter glasses all around, and the janitor is left shocked and scared. Gackt and the dancers begin dancing in robot-like motions. Their faces have torn areas where you can see metal underneath. At the end of the PV, the cyborgs menacingly approach the janitor, who is cowering with fear on the ground. The last shot is of the janitor with the glowing red eyes of a cyborg.

Jesus
This is one of the most disturbing PVs that Gackt has done. It is based on the theme of Requiem et Reminiscence II, so perhaps the heaviness of the PV is not that surprising. It begins with a man dressed in a military uniform, holding a gun to his head. Gackt and the band appear wearing all black except for their boldly red ties (Ju-ken and Junji also have some brightly colored hair, adding the only other bright color to the PV). We see the man stumble into a bleak room with a chair and table at its center. The man goes to a shelf with a mirror above and retrieves bullets for his gun. He sits in the chair, loads the gun and then begins contemplating using it. Gackt and the band surround him, singing and playing their instruments with menace. During the middle portion of the song where Gackt ‘raps’ in English, he shouts at the man, his face inches away, seemingly egging him on to pull the trigger. At this point and thereafter, Gackt and the members’ faces occasionally take on an eerie, skeletal glow. You can see the suffering in the man, as he repeatedly puts the gun to his head, pulls it away, and grabs his hair in frustration. Eventually the suffering ends, as he really does pull the trigger as he holds the gun against his head, and we see him facedown in a pool of his blood.

君が追いかけた夢(Kimi
ga Oikaketa Yume)
As this PV begins, Gackt is sitting at a café, waiting to meet a girl. As he waits, he checks his watch, and seems to be ignored by the waiters. We see some scenes of him together with the girl, and then scenes of her walking happily towards her meeting with him. As he approaches her, he is hit by a car, but the car goes through him as if he is a ghost. When he turns around, he sees himself lying on the ground. Apparently, Gackt has been a ghost all along At the end of the PV, the entire scene repeats, with Gackt returning to the café. He appears to be stuck in time, repeating the cycle, and his own death, forever. Gackt’s costar in the PV is Vivian Hsu, a Taiwanese singer, actress and model. The PV was filmed in Funabashi, Japan, and was released on March 19, 2003.

君に逢いたくて(Kimi
ni Aitakute)
This PV stars Gackt and the actress Janina, and the story is told from the
point of view of Gackt. Through flashbacks we learn that he has lost the one
he loves and he longs to see her again. He recalls the times when she was
happy with him, and the moment he gave her a ring. But he also recalls when
the relationship ended and how the ring was given back to him. As he waits
at the train station, you can sense how long he has waited for the moment
he is reunited with her. As the PV ends, a train comes into view and we are
left wondering if she stepped off the train and into his arms once again.
The PV was filmed in St. Goar, Germany, and was released on October 27, 2004.

君のためにできること(Kimi
no tameni dekiruo koto)
There are two characters in this PV, who seem to be alone and wandering around
separately in the same house. They find themselves sitting in the same room,
staring out the same window, but never meeting. That is until the end when
they pass each other on the staircase—it is hard to tell if their paths
have crossed before this moment. The PV was filmed in Kawagoe, Japan, and
was released on March 14, 2001.

Last Song
At the beginning of this PV, we see Gackt throwing a piece of paper into
a guitarist’s guitar case. The guitarist is confused, but he looks at
the paper and sees it contains the music to a song called Last Song. There
are scenes of Gackt writing this song, and scenes of what appears to be a
terrible breakup. Near the end, there are also scenes of them during happier
times. At the end of the PV, a single tear rolls down Gackt’s face.
The PV was filmed in Kimitsu, Japan, and was released on November 12, 2003.

Love Letter
This PV is a collection of clips from the DIABOLOS concert final at Tokyo
Dome. Most of the shots are of him singing this song at the concert, wearing
the long white coat. The PV was released on March 1, 2006.

Love Letter~For Korean Dears
This MV for Love Letter was included with the Love Letter~For Korean Dears~
CD, released on June 16, 2005. Gackt sings the song in Korean, and the MV
is dedicated to Asian Dears. In the MV, there are clips from Gackt’s
various appearances in Asia, as well as clips from his concerts. It is very
touching to see how much he has interacted with his fans over the years.

Metamorphoze
This PV reflects the fact that Metamorphoze was used for the Mobile Suit
Gundam Z anime movies. Gackt is seen wearing white body armor and piloting
a mobile suit, and there are scenes from the anime shown throughout the PV.
Gackt goes into battle with other mobile suits, and he sees himself on his
monitor, seemingly dead from an explosion. By the end of the PV, his mobile
suit does explode and he is drifting out in space. The PV was released on
May 25, 2005.

Mirror
Mirror is one of the few PVs in which the original members of GacktJob appear.
Gackt jams with Ren, Masa and You, all wearing red leather jackets and pants.
The PV was filmed in Los Angeles and released on February 9, 2000.

Mizerable
As this PV begins, Gackt is being transported across the dessert. He is wearing
an extravagant costume that is reminiscent of his days with Malice Mizer,
and we get the sense that he is trapped in this confined space. He eventually
reaches the forest, where a new Gackt seems to be born among the lush green
trees. The PV was filmed in Los Angeles and Nevada, and was released on May
12, 1999.

野に咲く花のように(No
ni Saku Hana no You ni)
At the beginning of the PV, there is footage of Gackt at the Maiko High School
graduation where he first performed this song, which he had written for those
graduates The PV is a collection of photographs and videos depicting school
life, submitted by fans. In between the clips of student life, there are scenes
of Gackt sitting in an empty classroom. At the end of the PV, there is more
footage of the graduation ceremony; Gackt tells Ryo (the student who asked
him to come to the graduation) to stand up, and tells him that he kept his
promise. The PV was released on February 7, 2007.

OASIS
In this PV, Gackt is dressed in a tattered brown cloth, and the setting is
the desert. He follows a boy across the desert, on what seems to be a very
long journey. Along the way, there are glimpses of a woman, dressed in white,
standing in the middle of the desert. The connection between the characters
and this woman is unknown, but we see her crouch down, seemingly in despair.
After their journey across the desert, Gackt and the boy end up in a room
filled with equipment. Gackt turns the knob to what appears to be a radio,
and both he and the boy lay down on the ground, possibly dead. The PV has
some interesting parts where the film runs backwards, giving Gackt’s
movements an inhuman quality. The PV was filmed in Nevada (United States),
and was released on February 16, 2000.

REDEMPTION
The PV for Redemption features Gackt wearing the costume created for his
character, Genesis, in the PS2 game Final Fantasy VII~Dirge of Cerberus. He
also wore this costume during the DIABOLOS tour, and the special microphone
used in the PV was also used during the tour. At the beginning of the PV,
Gackt is lying amongst feathers scattered on the ground, with feathers floating
all around him The PV is filled with the imagery of birds and Gackt himself
appears to have been possessed by the spirit of a bird. We learn through the
PV that he had been standing in a window, when the ghostly shape of a bird
flew towards him and entered his body. As he rises from the ground, he moves
as if he is a bird himself. You, Chacha, Ju-ken and Ryu are also in the PV,
along with three DARTS-like dancers. The PV was filmed in Yokosuka, Japan,
and was released on January 25, 2006.

RETURNER~闇の終焉~
(RETURNER~yami no shuuen~)
Gackt wrote this song with the Taiga drama, Fuurin Kazan, in mind (he plays
Uesugi Kenshin in the drama) The PV starts with scenes of a battlefield strewn
with dead bodies. We see armored samurai riding in on horseback, and then
a closeup of Gackt. The camera pulls back and we see that Gackt is one of
the samurai, dressed in heavy armor, his hair long and black. The battlefield
is desolate, except for a tiny green plant growing in the dirt; that small
plant is quickly trampled on by the fighting samurai. There is an intense
fight scene between the samurai, and then we see Gackt again, this time dressed
in tattered black leather and holding a sword. The samurai Gackt engages in
battle, and is stabbed in the back. He falls forward and dies at the end of
the PV. It was reported that the PV cost 30 million yen to produce, and Gackt
wore the armor that was worn by the actor who played the role of Uesugi Kenshin
in the movie “天と地と” (“Heaven and Earth”).
The PV was released on June 6, 2007.

再会~Story~
(Saikai~Story)
In this PV Gackt is remembering a relationship through film. The film shows
the many intimate moments they spent together, along the beach, side by side
at the piano. You can feel Gackt’s pain and sadness very strongly as
the PV cuts to scenes of him singing passionately while surrounded by water.
The PV was filmed on the island of Saipan, and was released on August 30,
2000. The woman in the PV is played by Brie LeClair.

Secret Garden
In this PV, Gackt is wandering around in a bus station, observing the people
around him. He seems to follow a young girl in particular, as she waits in
the station and boards a bus. They catch each others’ eyes twice, but
never speak. The PV was filmed in Los Angeles and was released on November
16, 2000.

鶺鴒~seki-ray
(Seki-ray)
This PV begins with a shot of Gackt collapsed in the snow. Through the PV,
we see scenes of him walking through the snow, looking very weak and lost.
At the end he comes upon his own body collapsed in the snow, which was the
scene that opened the PV. The PV was filmed in Karuizawa, Japan, and was released
on March 8, 2000.

届カナイ愛ト知ッテイタノニ抑エキレズニ愛シ続ケタ・・・
(Todokanai ai to shitteita noni osaekirezuni aishi tsuzuketa…)
This PV shows the story of two Shito from the story told in DIABOLOS. They
started out happy together, but when the woman awakens as a vampire, she violently
begins to kill She turns on the man, and they engage in a sword fight. As
the sun comes up, the man kills her, and he appears to stab himself as well
They both burn until only their rings are left in the final scene. Gackt appears
in the PV as an observer; he has chin length hair and is wearing all black.
He also is wearing the reverse cross necklace. The two main characters in
the PV are played by Sarah Branch and Richard Gasso. The PV was filmed in
Setagaya, Japan, and was released on August 10, 2005.

月の詩(Tsuki
no Uta)
This PV is completely computer animated, and because the song is the theme
for the anime Texhnolyze, the story presented echoes the story told in the
anime. In it, Gackt appears to have an artificial arm, which is pinned against
the wall. He is reaching for a figure of a woman that has a necklace around
its neck. He breaks loose from the wall by tearing his arm off, and he has
a vision of himself with his body intact. In this vision, he also sees the
figure before him. Before he can reach the figure, he is shot and killed.
The PV was released on June 11, 2003.

Vanilla
Vanilla is an unusual PV for Gackt in that there is no discernable storyline.
There’s Gackt in a room with a video camera (the lens cover removed
by a woman in a poofy white dress with red sleeves), Gackt in a cage being
wrapped with plastic wrap by weird white-clothed nuns/nurses/whatever they
are, Gackt in a plastic box dancing wildly, Gackt touching a mysterious white
globe, the white-clothed ‘people’ running down the hall and carrying
a red ball… None of it adds up to a real storyline. Gackt has the famous
blonde spiky hair, which people have compared to Cloud Strife (from Final
Fantasy) and to a Super Saiyan (Dragonball). The PV was filmed in Los Angeles
and was released on August 11, 1999.

忘れないから(Wasurenaikara)
This PV has three different settings. In one Gackt is dressed in leather,
riding a red Ducati, the second has him submerged in water, and in the third
he is dressed in white and singing to the camera. His shock of blonde hair
contrasts with the other primary colors of red and blue throughout the PV.
The PV was filmed in Ryugasaki, Japan, and was released on April 24, 2002.
