ANOTHER WORLD (Digital Dream Live December
1, 2001)
The Digital Dream Live is a yearly special commemorating the start of NHK’s
BS Digital satellite channels. This show, which aired in 2001, was the second
Digital Dream Live. Gackt performed Another World and Mirror on this show.
He wore the black suit, white shirt and necklace that he wore in the second
part of the Another World PV. GacktJob wore very similar clothes. Gackt’s
hair was very short and spiky. He was playful with the audience, yelling to
them and gesturing to them throughout the performance.

ANOTHER WORLD (30th Japan’s Best Awards 2001)
The 30th Japan’s Best Awards was a Music Station special. Gackt starts
off this energetic performance of Another World by yelling into the audience
to rile them up. He wore the black suit and white shirt which he wore in the
second part of the Another World PV. GacktJob also wore similar clothes. Gackt’s
hair was short, spiky and blonde.

ANOTHER WORLD (Hey!Hey!Hey! April 5, 2004)
In this special appearance on Hey!Hey!Hey!, Gackt and GacktJob performed
outdoors in front of Shuri Castle in Okinawa. The castle was lit up and was
a beautiful backdrop to Gackt’s performance. Gackt wore the black and
red pinstripe suit which he wore during the Sixth Day Seventh Night tour.
GacktJob also wore similar suits. Gackt’s hair was straight and brown.

ANOTHER WORLD (m.net/Km Music Video Festival December 4, 2004)
The Km Music Video Festival, held in Seoul, Korea, was the biggest musical
event in Korea. Gackt was invited to perform, and he won the award for the
Best Asia Rock Artist. He performed the Korean version of Juunigatsu no Love
Song and Another World. Unfortunately, he had mic problems throughout the
performance, with the sound cutting in and out. However, he still performed
very energetically, feeding off the energy from the crowd. The Korean audience
was exceptionally responsive, screaming and cheering throughout Gackt’s
performance. Gackt wore a long black coat for this performance of Another
World (he wore the same coat for the performance of Juunigatsu no Love Song).
His hair was dark brown and straight.

ありったけの愛で
(Arittake no Ai de) (Music Fighter February 18, 2005)
Gackt started this performance of Arittake no Ai de by getting the audience
to start clapping to the song. As with most performances of this song, Gackt
happily interacted with the audience and smiled throughout the song. He wore
a pink floral print shirt, tan pants and pink tinted sunglasses. He was accompanied
by You and Chacha on acoustic guitars. They performed on a very small round
platform, surrounded on all sides by the audience.

BLACK STONE (CDTV May 7, 2005)
Gackt and GacktJob performed Black Stone on CDTV wearing the same outfits
they wore in the PV. Gackt had long braided hair extensions that were pulled
back. The stage was fairly simple, with a red lighted floor, gridlines on
the walls, and pinpoints of lights shooting from the walls. Gackt makes a
lot of eye contact with the camera during this performance, and Gackt and
the members don’t move much from their “assigned” spots
on the stage.

December Love (CDTV December 31, 2002)
For the CDTV New Years eve special, Gackt sang December Love in English. He
wore a long white coat, all black underneath and black gloves. His hair was
wavy with blonde highlights. “Snow” was beautifully falling from
the “sky” throughout the performance. Gackt was accompanied by
GacktJob, with You playing the violin.

Dispar (Mnet KM Festival November 17, 2007)
Gackt was invited as a guest performer at the Mnet KM Festival awards show
in Korea. He performed Dispar and REDEMPTION. He performed Dispar first. Gackt
and GacktJob (You, Chacha, guest bassist Nell and guest drummer Minami) wore
the red and black costumes from the DIABOLOS tour. Also on the stage were
eight dancers, wearing black cloaks and black and white masks (the DARTS).
Gackt and the dancers performed the Dispar dance moves from the DIABOLOS tour
on a unique circular stage. The stage was lit in green lights at the beginning,
and then changed to dark red. There were screens with images of flames all
around the stage. It is amusing to watch the (shocked) reactions of the various
Korean artists sitting in the audience as Gackt gives his all in this very
upbeat performance.
離したくはない
(Hanashitakuwanai) (Happy Xmas Show December 23, 2003)
Gackt performed a cover of a T-Bolan song for this special Christmas show,
accompanied by You on acoustic guitar. This is a song that Gackt and You had
performed in the streets of Kyoto ten years before. They performed the song
outdoors, on what seemed to be a very cold night, in front of just a handful
of listeners. The audience was made up of couples, huddled together and holding
candles. Halfway through the song, Gackt stands up and sings quite passionately.
He ends by saying “arigatou ne” with a small laugh.

いつかのメリークリスマス
(Itsuka no Merry Christmas) ( Hey!Hey!Hey! December 24, 2001)
Gackt and Ayumi Hamasaki performed this duet together, accompanied by piano.
Gackt wore a dark suit and tie and Ayumi wore a white gown and small tiara.
They were accompanied by a piano player. The stage was decorated with the
red and green colors of Christmas. Red and green lights also lit up the floor.
A large star with multicolored lights hung in the back. A lovely duet, though
they didn’t interact with each other or make eye contact at any time
during the performance.

special. He wore a long black furry coat, black clothes underneath, and black
boots. His hair was dark and slightly long, parted in the middle. He was accompanied
by GacktJob and a group of violinists. There were no set pieces on the stage,
probably because most of the stage was taken up by the violinists. The audience
was not the usual television show audience; they were seated at round dinner
tables.

12月のLoveSong

t-shirt and black pants. The stage was lighted in blue and purple lights.
Gackt was accompanied by Chacha on guitar, You on violin, and guest bassist

to singing in Chinese. In the middle of the performance, he paused and spoke
to the audience in Chinese:
I hope that one day, everybody who lives in Asia (will), like you and
me, connect heart to heart and hold hands; that everybody will say (lit. say
out loud), “We are (all) Asians”, “We are one family”.
(translated by Sweiled) A loud cheer rose from the audience, and he finished
singing the song, switching between Japanese and Chinese lyrics.

ga Matteiru Kara) (Pop Jam May 29, 2004)

straight and light brown. The background image appeared to be a red and orange

Gackt sang the National Anthem of Japan, Kimigayo, at the Crescer Challenge
Cup 2001. He walked out onto the field confidently, wearing a dark pinstripe

through much of the performance.

ni Aitakute) (55th Kouhaku Utagassen December 31, 2004)
Gackt performed Kimi ni Aitakute at the annual NHK Kouhaku Utagassen on New
Years Eve. He wore a furry black coat, and all black underneath. His hair
was frizzy and big, a new look for Gackt. He was accompanied by You on acoustic
guitar. They sat on a small platform in the audience, while people shined
lights from the stage. During the second half of the song, lights shined onto
a mirror ball on the stage, sending beams of light everywhere.

Last Song (CDTV November 22, 2003)
Four days after his performance of Last Song on Pop Jam, Gackt performed
it again on CDTV. He was dressed the same and looked the same as in the Pop
Jam performance. He played acoustic guitar along with You and Chacha, and
once again, the “snow” came falling down.

and straight. The stage set was simple, with just a piano and a lighted floor.

Love (John Lennon Dream Power Live October 2, 2003)
Gackt performed a cover of John Lennon’s song Love at the Dream Power
Live, a special tribute to John Lennon. He starts out singing it softly, playing
acoustic guitar, and then halfway through he switches to playing an electric
guitar and sings a rockier version. He wore a black and gray patterned shirt
and black pants. His hair was dark and slightly wavy.

Love Letter (Korean) (MBC June 2005)
Love Letter was one of two songs Gackt performed for his Korean fans. He

version of the Love Letter album. Before he starts, he speaks to the fans
in Korean, and then sings Love Letter in Korean. He wore a black short-sleeved
button shirt and white pants. His hair was dark and long, and swept back.

in soft blue lights.

Metamorphoze (Music Fighter May 27, 2005)
Gackt and GacktJob performed this song wearing long black coats with gold
trim. The costumes hint at the fact that the song is used as the theme for
the Gundam anime. Gackt’s hair is slightly long and pulled back at the
sides. They play on an enclosed set surrounded by green and red and blue lights

Mind Forest (CDTV December 31, 2003)

GacktJob wore very similar clothes. Gackt’s hair was very short and
spiky. He and GacktJob wore black suits and white shirts, and Gackt’s
hair was short and spiky. Gackt interacted with his band and with the audience
throughout this performance, making for a very exciting performance. Behind
them were three big screens showing random images.

Mizerable (Pop Jam 2000)
In one of his first performances on television as a solo artist, Gackt performed
Mizerable on Pop Jam in 2000. He was dressed from head to toe in black leather,
and his hair was spiky and blonde. He was also wearing black nail polish,
possibly a remnant from his days with Malice Mizer. You, who played violin
for this performance, also had blonde hair at that time. White fog covered
the floor and billowed around Gackt as he sang.

Mizerable (CDTV April 2, 2003)
Gackt performed Mizerable on the CDTV 10th Anniversary special. He wore a
dark suit, and his hair was straight and dark brown. He was accompanied by
GacktJob, including You on violin. The stage was in the middle of the audience,
and Gackt walked around to all sides of the stage. The audience was waving
light sticks and cheered loudly as Gackt walked around the stage. Bursts of
white smoke would occasionally shoot out from the sides of the stage at key
points in the performance.

野に咲く花のように
(No ni Saku Hana no You ni) (Music Fighter February 9, 2007)
There’s a short clip at the beginning where Gackt talks about how his
weight went up to 70kg while training for Fuurin Kazan, and how his weight
dropped to 60kg two weeks before going on tour. Gackt performed the song wearing
a white and pink print shirt and white pants. He sang the piano version of
the song. He sat alone on a stool in the middle of the stage, fog flowing
on the ground. His hair was straight and dark brown. At the end of the performance,
the stage was lit up in a bright white light.

野に咲く花のように
(No ni Saku Hana no You ni) (Pop Jam February 10, 2007)
There’s a short introduction to the song where Gackt dedicates the
song to graduates. Very similar to the Music Fighter performance, he wore
the same outfit and performed the piano version of the song. Once again, he
sat alone on a stool in the middle of the stage, surrounded by white lights.
This time there wasn’t fog flowing on the ground. Gackt gave another
passionate and beautiful performance of the song, smiling softly at the end.

野に咲く花のように
(No ni Saku Hana no You ni) (NHK Spring Special March 30, 2007)
In this special, Gackt’s performance of No ni Saku Hana no Youni at
the Nagasaki High School graduation ceremony is shown. Dressed all in black,
Gackt performed accompanied by You and Chacha on acoustic guitar. He pauses
before the last lines, saying “sotsugyou omedetou” (“congratulations
on your graduation”). He ends by telling the graduates, “a dream
is not to be dreamt, a dream is to be realized.”

He wore the baggy orange pants and red/silver jacket that he wore during the
Requiem et Reminiscence tour. His hair was light brown, and slightly frizzy.
The stage was lighted with red and blue laser lights, and they use blurry
camera effects during parts of the performance. There are also bursts of fog
from the sides of the stage. Gackt dances and sings with a lot of energy through
the whole performance. His dance moves are the same as the ones he usually
does for Papa Lapped.

Rain (CDTV July 17, 2002)
In this performance of Rain, Gackt wore the long black leather coat he wore
in the Kagen no Tsuki tour. His hair was long and blonde. He was accompanied
by GacktJob. The stage was bathed in blue lights. Gackt gives his all in this
performance, and it almost feels as if we are watching him in concert.

REDEMPTION (CDTV February 4, 2006)
Gackt performed Redemption wearing the black and red Dirge of Cerberus outfit
he wore during the DIABOLOS tour. He also had the same cornrows and long curly
extensions in his hair. GacktJob also wore their black and red tour costumes.
Gackt sang with the specially designed mic he used during the tour (and in
the PV), and he was separated from the rest of the band and raised up onto
a platform in the center of the stage.

REDEMPTION (Mnet KM Festival November 17, 2007)
Gackt was invited as a guest performer at the Mnet KM Festival awards show
in Korea. He performed Dispar and REDEMPTION. After the performance of Dispar,
Gackt spoke a few words to the audience in Korean. The DARTS dancers from
the Dispar performance gathered in the middle of the circular stage, and disappeared
into the stage. Then Gackt’s familiar REDEMPTION mic stand rose out
of the floor from that same spot. Gackt and GacktJob (You, Chacha, guest bassist
Nell and guest drummer Minami) wore the red and black costumes from the DIABOLOS
tour. The stage was bathed in a cool blue light.
RETURNER~ 闇の終焉~ (Music Japan June 22, 2007)
There is a short introduction by Gackt, where he says RETURNER~闇の終焉~ is an
intense song. Gackt wore the same black tattered leather outfit he wore in
the PV for the song, as well as the long black wig (which he also wears in
the Taiga drama Fuurin Kazan). The stage was decorated with several flaming
torches, and everything was lit up in red light. He was accompanied by GacktJob,
and unlike in the Music Station performance, he used a hand-held mic.

RETURNER~闇の終焉~消え逝く武士(サムライ)たちへの鎮魂歌(レクイエム)) (~yami no shuuen~kieyuku samurai e no requiem)
(58th Kouhaku Utagassen December 31, 2007)
Gackt performed RETURNER at the 58th annual NHK Kouhaku Utagassen on New
Years Eve. Instead of appearing in the studio and performing on the regular
stage, Gackt performed on a set outdoors, dressed in his full Uesugi Kenshin
costume (from the Fuurin Kazan drama). He was surrounded by 250 extras dressed
as his soldiers, and was accompanied by GacktJob, who were also wearing full
armor. In the middle of the performance, scenes from Fuurin Kazan are shown.
Before and after the performance of the song, Gackt speaks the lines that
Kenshin spoke before the decisive final battle at Kawanakajima.

Sakurasou (Korean) (MBC June 2005)
This was the first song Gackt sang during his performance in Korea, and he
sang the song in Korean. He wore a black short-sleeved button shirt and white
pants. His hair was dark and long, and swept back. The performance was short
and simple, with just Gackt singing while bathed in purple light.

Secret Garden (Music Station 2001)
For this performance of Secret Garden, Gackt wore a long black coat, and
his hair was brown and teased out. Gackt was accompanied by GacktJob, who
also wore all black. The stage was decorated with several tall white pillars,
and everything was covered with vines. The lighting was mostly purple, and
there were torches on the stage that had red flames. The floor was covered
with a layer of white fog. As a side note, this show was aired on TV in Singapore
(which you can tell by the number 8 in the top right-hand corner of the screen);
however, the performance itself did not take place in Singapore.

Silent Night (Hey!Hey!Hey! December 24, 2001)
Gackt and Ayumi Hamasaki performed this duet of Silent Night on the Hey!Hey!Hey!
Christmas special. Gackt wore a long, red leather coat and his hair was long
and slightly blonde. Ayumi wore a long white gown. The performance was shown
live on a giant screen in Shibuya, and the camera would sometimes switch to
show people in the street watching Gackt and Ayumi singing.

届カナイ愛ト知ッテイタノニ抑エキレズニ愛シ続ケタ・・・
(Todokanai ai to shitteita noni osaekirezuni aishi tsuzuketa…)
(Music Fighter August 12, 2005)
Gackt performed this song wearing a black coat, black mock turtleneck and
black pants, which was the same outfit he wore for the PV. His hair also looked
similar to the way it was in the PV, long, dark brown and straight. There
was thick white fog flowing down the walls and onto the stage floor. The lights
changed from blue to purple to red. At the end, a wind machine was turned
on, giving a nice dramatic effect to the performance.

届カナイ愛ト知ッテイタノニ抑エキレズニ愛シ続ケタ・・・
(Todokanai ai to shitteita noni osaekirezuni aishi tsuzuketa…)
(Utaban August 18, 2005)
In this performance of Todokanai Ai, Gackt appears the same as he did in
the performance for Music Fighter, a few days earlier. This performance is
memorable for the set decorated with floating white columns, and for Gackt’s
intense singing, staring straight ahead and barely moving from his spot holding
the mic.

Wasurenaikara (Pop Jam 2002)
In the beginning of this performance, Gackt appears at the top of stairs
set up on the stage. As he reaches the stage, the music starts and there’s
a burst of sparklers on the stairs. Gackt wore the black and white leather
jacket that he wore in Moon Child. He was accompanied by GacktJob, and he
gave a few calls into the audience during the performance. At the end of the
performance, he said, “Let’s meet again.”
