ANOTHER WORLD (Digital Dream Live December 1, 2001)

The Digital Dream Live is a yearly special commemorating the start of NHK’s BS Digital satellite channels. This show, which aired in 2001, was the second Digital Dream Live. Gackt performed Another World and Mirror on this show. He wore the black suit, white shirt and necklace that he wore in the second part of the Another World PV. GacktJob wore very similar clothes. Gackt’s hair was very short and spiky. He was playful with the audience, yelling to them and gesturing to them throughout the performance.

ANOTHER WORLD (30th Japan’s Best Awards 2001)

The 30th Japan’s Best Awards was a Music Station special. Gackt starts off this energetic performance of Another World by yelling into the audience to rile them up. He wore the black suit and white shirt which he wore in the second part of the Another World PV. GacktJob also wore similar clothes. Gackt’s hair was short, spiky and blonde.

ANOTHER WORLD (Hey!Hey!Hey! April 5, 2004)

In this special appearance on Hey!Hey!Hey!, Gackt and GacktJob performed outdoors in front of Shuri Castle in Okinawa. The castle was lit up and was a beautiful backdrop to Gackt’s performance. Gackt wore the black and red pinstripe suit which he wore during the Sixth Day Seventh Night tour. GacktJob also wore similar suits. Gackt’s hair was straight and brown.

ANOTHER WORLD (m.net/Km Music Video Festival December 4, 2004)

The Km Music Video Festival, held in Seoul, Korea, was the biggest musical event in Korea. Gackt was invited to perform, and he won the award for the Best Asia Rock Artist. He performed the Korean version of Juunigatsu no Love Song and Another World. Unfortunately, he had mic problems throughout the performance, with the sound cutting in and out. However, he still performed very energetically, feeding off the energy from the crowd. The Korean audience was exceptionally responsive, screaming and cheering throughout Gackt’s performance. Gackt wore a long black coat for this performance of Another World (he wore the same coat for the performance of Juunigatsu no Love Song). His hair was dark brown and straight.

ありったけの愛で (Arittake no Ai de) (Music Fighter February 18, 2005)

Gackt started this performance of Arittake no Ai de by getting the audience to start clapping to the song. As with most performances of this song, Gackt happily interacted with the audience and smiled throughout the song. He wore a pink floral print shirt, tan pants and pink tinted sunglasses. He was accompanied by You and Chacha on acoustic guitars. They performed on a very small round platform, surrounded on all sides by the audience.

BLACK STONE (CDTV May 7, 2005)

Gackt and GacktJob performed Black Stone on CDTV wearing the same outfits they wore in the PV. Gackt had long braided hair extensions that were pulled back. The stage was fairly simple, with a red lighted floor, gridlines on the walls, and pinpoints of lights shooting from the walls. Gackt makes a lot of eye contact with the camera during this performance, and Gackt and the members don’t move much from their “assigned” spots on the stage.

December Love (CDTV December 31, 2002)

For the CDTV New Years eve special, Gackt sang December Love in English. He wore a long white coat, all black underneath and black gloves. Also on the stage were eight dancers, wearing black cloaks and black and white masks (the DARTS). Gackt and the dancers performed the Dispar dance moves from the DIABOLOS tour on a unique circular stage. The stage was lit in green lights at the beginning, and then changed to dark red. There were screens with images of flames all around the stage. It is amusing to watch the (shocked) reactions of the various Korean artists sitting in the audience as Gackt gives his all in this very upbeat performance.

離したくはない (Hanashitakuwanai) (Happy Xmas Show December 23, 2003)

Gackt performed a cover of a T-Bolan song for this special Christmas show, accompanied by You on acoustic guitar. This is a song that Gackt and You had performed in the streets of Kyoto ten years before. They performed the song outdoors, on what seemed to be a very cold night, in front of just a handful of listeners. The audience was made up of couples, huddled together and holding candles. Halfway through the song, Gackt stands up and sings quite passionately. He ends by saying “arigatou ne” with a small laugh.

There were no set pieces on the stage, probably because most of the stage was taken up by the violinists. The audience was not the usual television show audience; they were seated at round dinner tables.

I hope that one day, everybody who lives in Asia (will), like you and me, connect heart to heart and hold hands; that everybody will say (lit. say out loud), “We are (all) Asians”, “We are one family”. During the second half of the song, lights shined onto a mirror ball on the stage, sending beams of light everywhere.

Last Song (CDTV November 22, 2003)

Four days after his performance of Last Song on Pop Jam, Gackt performed it again on CDTV. He was dressed the same and looked the same as in the Pop Jam performance. He played acoustic guitar along with You and Chacha, and once again, the “snow” came falling down.

He was also wearing black nail polish, possibly a remnant from his days with Malice Mizer. You, who played violin for this performance, also had blonde hair at that time. White fog covered the floor and billowed around Gackt as he sang.

野に咲く花のように (No ni Saku Hana no You ni) (Pop Jam February 10, 2007)

Very similar to the Music Fighter performance, he wore the same outfit and performed the piano version of the song. Once again, he sat alone on a stool in the middle of the stage, surrounded by white lights. This time there wasn’t fog flowing on the ground. Gackt was invited as a guest performer at the Mnet KM Festival awards show in Korea. He performed Dispar and REDEMPTION. Then Gackt’s familiar REDEMPTION mic stand rose out of the floor from that same spot. Gackt and GacktJob (You, Chacha, guest bassist Nell and guest drummer Minami) wore the red and black costumes from the DIABOLOS tour. The stage was bathed in a cool blue light.

Gackt wore the same black tattered leather outfit he wore in the PV for the song, as well as the long black wig (which he also wears in the Taiga drama Fuurin Kazan). The stage was decorated with several flaming torches, and everything was lit up in red light. He was accompanied by GacktJob, and unlike in the Music Station performance, he used a hand-held mic.

He was surrounded by 250 extras dressed as his soldiers, and was accompanied by GacktJob, who were also wearing full armor. In the middle of the performance, scenes from Fuurin Kazan are shown. As a side note, this show was aired on TV in Singapore (which you can tell by the number 8 in the top right-hand corner of the screen); however, the performance itself did not take place in Singapore.

His hair also looked similar to the way it was in the PV, long, dark brown and straight. There was thick white fog flowing down the walls and onto the stage floor. (Utaban August 18, 2005)

In this performance of Todokanai Ai, Gackt appears the same as he did in the performance for Music Fighter, a few days earlier. This performance is memorable for the set decorated with floating white columns, and for Gackt’s intense singing, staring straight ahead and barely moving from his spot holding the mic.

Wasurenaikara (Pop Jam 2002)

In the beginning of this performance, Gackt appears at the top of stairs set up on the stage. As he reaches the stage, the music starts and there’s a burst of sparklers on the stairs. Gackt wore the black and white leather jacket that he wore in Moon Child. He was accompanied by GacktJob, and he gave a few calls into the audience during the performance. At the end of the performance, he said, “Let’s meet again.”
