Bujingai (2003)
This is a CM for the PS2 game Bujingai, in which Gackt played the main character,
Lau Wong. The CM features Gackt’s song Mind Forest and shows scenes
of Gackt wielding a sword, intercut with gameplay footage. He does a lot of
wire action in this CM, similar to the motion capture work he did for the
game itself. At the end of the CM, Gackt says, “I will not give up.”

C-Kea (2001)
In this candy CM, there are three Gackts on a stage, each one standing on
a numbered platform. The audience is yelling and cheering, when someone with
a mic asks the Gackts, how do you remain beautiful? The Gackts answer, vitamin
C and collagen (which is in the C-kea candy). They continue, saying “mikakuto
dakeni migakuto”, where “mikakuto” is the name of the company
that makes the candy (UHA Mikakuto), which sounds like “migakuto”,
meaning “3 Gackts” (or, “Gackt number 3”). The Gackt
number 3 gets sent down a hole after saying “migakuto”.

C-Kea
In this CM for C-Kea, Gackt’s shadow turns into a blue, watery woman,
as he says “I love the ocean, as the ocean loves me.” The watery
woman represents the ocean (you can even sea fishes swimming around), probably
because this candy has marine collagen as an ingredient. Gackt dances with
the watery woman, until she loses shape and bursts into a puddle of water.
The somewhat serious CM ends on a funny note with Gackt, his sleeves and pants
rolled up, mopping up the watery mess.

Dwango
In this CM for Dwango’s Iromeromix ringtones, Gackt is walking along
an animated street, carrying his shopping bag and waving to “people”,
when he sees PaRappa the Rapper (from the Playstation game) and a karate sensei
singing and practicing karate moves inside a dojo. Gackt stands outside the
window and says, “He’s so elegant”, and keeps watching,
while dancing to the music. He then pops up from a trapdoor in the floor and
tells PaRappa he wants his voice. PaRappa responds by saying, “Hey,
Ga-ku-to!”.
E-ma
2001
In this CM, Gackt is throwing E-ma candies as he says “aaa”, as
if he’s throwing it to someone. He eats a few himself, as he continues
throwing the candies. At the end, we see that he’s actually been throwing
the candies to himself, catching them in his mouth!

2001
In this CM, Gackt is leaning on a piano, and he appears to be answering someone’s
questions. He just keeps saying, “un” (“yeah”), over
and over, while eating the E-mas, one after another. He eventually runs out
of E-mas, and at the end, he looks at his empty packet of E-mas and says,
“more please!”

2001
In this CM, Gackt is slowly contemplating as he prepares to eat an E-ma candy.
As he tosses it into his mouth, he misses, drops the candy on the floor, picks
it up and starts blowing on it. He seems to follow the five second rule, eating
the candy after nervously looking around and making sure no one saw him drop
it!

2003
In this E-ma commercial, Gackt is a weatherman who starts out calmly saying
“Tomorrow’s nationwide weather will be, ame wo name” (this
is a play on words, where “ame” means both candy and rain, and
“ame wo name” is a command to “eat the candy”). For
some reason, he gets increasingly hostile as he points to the map of Japan,
repeatedly saying “ame wo name” threateningly, commanding the
viewer to eat the candy! The announcer, who speaks in English, asks if he’s
alright, and he is eventually taken away by two men in suits.

2003
This is another version of the weatherman CM. This time, the announcer introduces
Gackt the weatherman, but Gackt is looking off to the side, eating E-mas.
He looks annoyed at whoever is off-camera, and then gestures at them threateningly.
He then starts swinging his pointer like a golf club, while the announcer
is still trying to get his attention, telling him that the filming has started.
Gackt just continues eating his E-ma and giving dirty looks to whoever is
annoying him.

(year unknown)
In this CM, Gackt is first seen moving in slow motion, surrounded by glowing
yellow E-ma candies. As the camera moves around him, suddenly we see him falling
over backwards onto his head/neck, as all the candies fall around him. He
lays on the ground and looks at the E-ma package in his hand, and then says
“shakinnn~!”

2005
In this CM, Gackt is sitting in a chair reading a book when he decides he
wants an E-ma. His hand suddenly shoots out from his arm to the table, and
brings the E-ma package to him. When he gets the E-ma package, his face opens
up, revealing that he is a robot with glowing eyes, and a metal device comes
out from his mouth that picks up an E-ma and brings it into his mouth. At
the end, there is smoke coming out of the Gackt-robot’s ears, probably
from all the effort it took to get the E-ma! The funniest thing about the
CM may be Gackt’s sound effects throughout the CM, from “gachannn~~”
to “wheeeeee~~~~ma”.
2005
In this CM, Gackt is sitting on the floor when his cell phone starts ringing.
He checks his pockets, but instead of finding his cell phone, he keeps pulling
out E-mas. He can’t find his cell phone in the pile of E-mas, and he
crawls around listening for it. In the end, he is drowning in the pile of
E-mas.

Final Fantasy VII~Dirge of Cerberus (2006)
This CM features Gackt’s song REDEMPTION, which was used in the PS2
game, Final Fantasy VII~Dirge of Cerberus. Gackt voices the character of Genesis
in this game, but Genesis doesn’t appear in this CM. The CM is a collection
of cut scenes and game play footage from Dirge of Cerberus.

Final Fantasy VII~Dirge of Cerberus Trailer (2006)
This is the five minute trailer of the Dirge of Cerberus game. It starts
with a conversation between Yuffie and Vincent, with Vincent telling Yuffie
to go wait with Cloud and the others while he took care of something; this
scene takes place at the end of the original Final Fantasy VII game. The trailer
then jumps three years into the future, where the events of Dirge of Cerberus
take place, and Gackt’s REDEMPTION kicks in as the background music.
The rest of the trailer shows cut scenes and gameplay from Dirge of Cerberus.
Near the end of the trailer, we see a brief glimpse of Gackt’s character,
Genesis, stepping out into the light.

Fleg Executive Monthly
2005
This CM starts out with Gackt sitting in an apartment using a laptop. It quickly
switches to a party scene with Gackt pouring drinks, the camera whizzing around
the room. At the end, Gackt is sitting and relaxing in a bathrobe. The CM,
which is an advertisement for executive apartments, gets across the idea that
the apartment can be used for work, entertaining, and relaxing. You was also
in the CM, playing one of the party guests.

Fuji Film
2001
In this CM, Gackt is being followed around by a little old lady who is desperately
taking his picture. As he walks down the hall saying “otsukaresama deshita”
to the staff, and doing his usual Chinese-style greeting of holding his fist,
he looks down and finds he has caught the little old lady’s head in
his hands. She looks up at him and says, “I bought a digicamera”,
and Gackt says, “I don’t care.” Gackt gets stuck to her
and she continues taking pictures of them together.

2001
Gackt is performing Wasurenaikara, when the little old lady suddenly appears
on a crane, zooms directly at Gackt and starts taking pictures. Gackt is stunned
by all the flashing from the old lady's camera, and she rides away on the
crane triumphant with all the pictures she has managed to take.

2001
Gackt is sitting in a train, thinking about how much he enjoys traveling alone,
when suddenly the little old lady appears outside his window. She is running
alongside the train at high speed, frantically taking pictures of Gackt, saying
“No, we must be together!” She then appears inside the train,
and tries to take pictures of them together, saying “Smile!”,
to which Gackt responds, “I will NOT smile” and puts a drink can
between their faces to keep them separated. She runs triumphantly to the print
shop to get her pictures printed.

2001
In this New Years commercial, Gackt and the little old lady are calmly playing
a Japanese card game called Karuta, where one player says the beginning of
a poem, and the other player grabs the card that completes the poem. As Gackt
grabs the correct card, the little old lady suddenly grabs his hand Gackt
struggles to escape but is caught in her tight grip, and she takes pictures
of her hand on top of his. She then rolls over to his side, practically into
his lap, taking pictures all the while.

2003
In this CM, the voiceover says, if you want delicious sashimi, you wouldn’t
try to catch it yourself, you’d get an expert do it right? To illustrate
this, they show the little old lady fishing and catching a big fish, while
Gackt catches a mermaid. The CM continues, saying that similarly, you would
want an expert to print the pictures you have taken. Gackt goes to the store
to pick up his prints and the little old lady is there, eating the sashimi
she caught. She says to Gackt, “you can’t eat a mermaid though,
can you?”

2003
This CM is similar to the mermaid CM, where the voiceover says, if you go
on an airplane, you wouldn’t fly it yourself, you’d leave it to
the pilot, right? And to illustrate, they show the little old lady flying
the plane, while Gackt is enjoying wine in the cabin and taking pictures out
the window. Gackt goes to pick up his prints at the store and sees his picture
of a UFO in front of Mt. Fuji, as the little old lady plays with a toy airplane.
2003
In this CM narrated by Gackt, the theme is capturing the way the sky looked
the day your child is born so that you can one day share that moment with
your child. It starts with a shot of a baby, followed by photographs falling
and flowing through the air. Then there is a scene of Gackt taking a picture
outside, followed by a shot of a framed photo of the blue sky. You can understand
the meaning of this CM by listening to Gackt’s voiceover: “Kodomo
ga umareta hi, sono ko no shashin wo torimakuruno wa iikedo, sono hi no sora
wo totte oitara doukana… Itsuka oshiete yareba ii—omae ga umareta
hi no sora datte” (“On the day a child is born, taking many pictures
of that child is fine, but what if you took pictures of the sky on that day…
I’ll show you one of these days—that was the sky on the day you
were born”).

2003
This CM, like the one with the baby, is more serious than the usual Fuji Film
CM. It begins with a shot of photos being tossed into the air, as a puppy
watches. We then see Gackt holding a camera and sitting with the puppy. In
the next scene, they are looking at a photo album together, and we see that
all of the photos in the album are from the puppy’s point of view. Gackt’s
voiceover: “Otona ni narutte, mainichi wa shinsen na shisen de minakunarukoto
kamo shiranai. Kyou, John no shisen de mita machi wo hatsu taiken shita”
(“Once you grow up, you may no longer see things with a fresh outlook.
Today, I experienced the neighborhood through John’s point of view.”

2003
The third in the series of more seriously themed CMs, this one starts with
scenes of photographs falling and flying through the air, as Gackt narrates.
He stands with a camera, looking at the photos, and then it shows him looking
at a wall covered with photographs. He says, “Boku ni wa wasuretakunai
koto ga takusan aru; dakara tottara shashin ni shitai. Itsuka boku no heya
no kabe wo wasuretakunai koto de ippai ni shitai to omou” (“There
are a lot of things that I don’t want to forget; so, if I take pictures,
I want to make them into photographs. I think, one day, I want to fill my
wall with things I don’t want to forget”). The theme of the CM
is, rather than just taking pictures and storing them on your camera, you
should print them out so you won’t forget those memories.

2003
These two CMs are parodies of the serious CMs where the pictures are falling
through the sky. In both, Gackt says you’ll be sad later if you don’t
print out the pictures that you took, and then the little old lady comes out
throwing the pictures into the air and two saleswomen say to bring your camera
into the store to get the pictures printed. In one version, Gackt just looks
back at them, annoyed. In the second version, he smiles and says “Thank
you for your cooperation.”

Iromeromix
This CM was shot at the same time as the Sixth Day Singles Collection, and
features Gackt standing naked in a case full of water. As he floats in the
water, a cell phone outside starts vibrating and ringing with Gackt’s
voice singing a song. Gackt gets irritated at the ringing, causing the glass
to shatter, all the water pours out, and Gackt steps out to answer the annoying
ringing phone. When he answers the phone, it’s not his voice, but a
weird female’s voice. At the end, he starts shaking the phone out of
irritation.

Kirin Fire (2001)
In this CM for a coffee drink, Gackt sings “To Feel The Fire”,
written by Stevie Wonder. He is seen at first singing seriously, but then
as the camera pulls back, we see he is sitting on a mechanical horse at a
carnival. Kids are gathered around him and staring at him as he sings his
heart out. And at the end, he falls off the horse (Gackt has mentioned that
it was accidental but they kept it in the CM anyway!).

Limunus
(2008)
This
CM is for a wrapping treatment skincare gel called Limunus. In the CM, Gackt appears like a Greek god, sitting
between white pillars, wearing a flowing white toga and sandals. He waves his arms in front of him, then reaches
up and the skincare gel pours into his hand from the sky above. As the gel runs down his arm, he says “Limunus. 母なる海の力. フコイダンがあなたの肌を潤す”
(“Limunus. The power of Mother Earth’s
ocean. Fucoidan hydrates your
skin”) Then
we are shown the bottle of the skincare gel, and
a woman's voice says it is a rinse-off cleanser that includes seaweed and
fucoidan (a sulphate found in brown seaweed) as essential ingredients. We see Gackt again, but through special effects
the gel is streaming upwards from his face into the sky! The song Secret Garden
plays in the background.

MARS Promotional CM (2000)
This CM was for promoting Gackt’s first album, MARS. The CM shows clips
from the PVs Vanilla, Oasis and Mirror, as music from the album plays in the
background.

Melo Mix
These Melo Mix CMs are advertising the fact that you can use Gackt’s
voice as a cell phone ringer. In both CMs, he is attached as a life-size keitai
strap that talks when the phone rings. In the first one, it looks at first
like he is trying to talk to the girl sitting on the bench, saying “Let’s
talk”. She appears annoyed by him, but then she yells to her friend
that her cell phone is ringing, and we realize that Gackt is just a cell phone
strap and not a person! In the second CM, we see that the Gackt cell phone
strap is really popular, as several people walking around are carrying the
Gackts under their arms.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
This CM for the PS2 game, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, starts with
Gackt saying, “Metal Gear Solid 2 shitteru? Boku wa shiranai”
(“Do you know Metal Gear Solid 2? I don’t”). It cuts to
scenes of Solid Snake from the game, and ends with Gackt intensely saying
“Boku wa shiranai”.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
This is another CM for the PS2 game, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
It starts with an extreme close-up of Gackt’s face as he says “Kore…sekai
no kihon desu” (“This…is the foundation of the world”).
He is wearing dark sunglasses on which we can see reflections of the characters
from the MGS2 game. The PV then shows brief glimpses of Solid Snake and other
characters from the game, and ends with another close-up of Gackt, smirking.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
This is another CM for Metal Gear Sold 2: Sons of Liberty. In this CM, Gackt
is holding a baby to whom he says, “Kimi ni nokoshitai mono ga…boku
ni wa aru” (“The thing that I want to leave behind in you…is
within me”). This may have to do with the cloning storyline that comes
up in the game. The rest of the CM is made up of clips of scenes from the
game.

Monsters, Inc. (2002)
This is a CM for the animated movie, Monsters, Inc. In the beginning of the
CM, Gackt appears to be talking to someone off camera, as he says it’s
a wonderful film. He then turns to the camera and, as scenes of the movie
play, he says he cried (after not having done so in a long while) and that
he was deeply moved by the film.

Moon Child trailer (2003)
This is the trailer for the movie Moon Child, starring Gackt and Hyde. It
opens with Gackt pointing a gun and saying “Open the showcase.”
Various action scenes are shown first, and then the sadder and more touching
scenes are shown, accompanied by Wang Leehom’s song, Last Night. At
the end, the voiceover says, “Bokutachi wa itsumo, warainagara naiteita”
(“We were always crying, while we laughed”).

Neue Men’s (2001)
This is a CM for hair wax from Shiseido’s Neue Men’s product
line. In the CM, Gackt is sitting in a chair and a woman’s hands apply
the wax, which is then activated by heat from the blow dryer. In the second
part of the CM, another Gackt says to the first Gackt, “Neue men’s.”
Gackt’s song Another World is featured as the background music.

Orico Card
2003
In this CM, Gackt plays pool with Upty. Gackt speaks to him in English, asking
him “you wanna give it a try?” Upty takes his break shot, and
after the break, all the balls seem to freeze at first. Then suddenly all
the balls shoot into the pockets, making Upty the winner. Gackt has a stunned
look on his face as they show Upty’s hand paying with the Orico card.
After Gackt’s loss to Upty, he ends up giving Upty a scratch around
the ears!

2004
This CM begins with Gackt hitting throwing a dart and hitting the center of
the dartboard. He goes to sit at the bar and tells Upty to try it. Upty throws
a dart, which seems to go really slow, then he suddenly starts throwing super
fast at the dart board, until the darts are all stacked up on top of each
other on the center of the bard. He throws one last super high speed dart,
which causes the dart board to shatter. Gackt is amazed at Upty’s skill.
At the end, Upty appears to be showing Gackt how to throw the dart correctly.

2006
Like in the pool and darts games, Gackt once again competes with Upty in this
CM. This time, it’s a dance contest! Gackt starts off, coming around
the corner, snapping and busting out into his dance moves. He is spotted by
several different colored Uptys, who start watching him dance and eventually
start dancing together. All the dancing and pounding of their feet causes
the wall behind Gackt to crack, and all the Uptys get away but Gackt is flattened
by the wall. The flattened Gackt shown at the end was actually printed on
a mousepad that was given away as an Orico card promotion.

Puccho
This is a CM for Puccho candy. We see Gackt’s floating head holding
a cell phone, while little orange and white creatures are running around.
Gackt starts trying to whistle the Puccho theme song, as the two creatures,
one being an orange and one being a milk, appear to fall in love. But the
orange pushes a Puccho package at the scared milk, and then jumps into it,
forming the square Puccho milky candy with the orangey chewy round gummy bits.
It ends with Gackt saying “Fukemasen” (“I cannot whistle”).

Quo
In this CM for Quo candy, Gackt is wearing a Shinsengumi style kimono, as
he sits and draws calligraphy. He says, “This candy is, in both taste
and shape, hobo budou”. He then shows the calligraphy he was writing,
which says “grape”. The joke is that this is a play on words,
where budou can mean both grape and martial arts (hobo means “mostly”).

Sixth Day Singles Collection (2004)
This CM for the Sixth Day album was filmed at the same time as the Iromeromix
CM, where he is standing naked in a water-filled glass booth. As he floats
in the tank, he becomes surrounded by old people who seem to be worshiping
him. He then says something angrily in what appears to be Russian. The final
shot has the Sixth Day album strategically placed in front of Gackt.

Takananoyuri Beauty Clinic
2002
This CM features the song Doomsday and is all about the beauty of Gackt’s
body. He seems to be floating, the background blue and shimmering like water.
He kisses a girl’s foot at the end.

2003
This CM begins with Gackt examining his skin with a magnifying glass. He says
that his name is Mr. Perfect, and that he is aiming for perfect beauty. Eriko
Sato is beamed down, and the old white haired “assistant” says
that this time, she is perfect. Gackt begins examining her body all over,
feeling her skin from head to toe, and seems pleased. That is, until he pokes
at her waist and, using a fat measuring device, finds that he can still pinch
a little bit of fat there. Gackt points off to the side and says “Takano
Yuri!”, sending her off to Takano Yuri to become more beautiful.

2004
Gackt and Tomoka Kurotani star in this CM, which features the song Vanilla.
Gackt is topless and Tomoka is swimming naked in the pool. He watches her
from the door for a while, and then pulls her out of the pool. There were
two versions of the CM, one which ends with Gackt kissing Tomoka, and one
without the kissing scene.

2005
Gackt and Ryoko Yonekura star in this CM, which features the song Saikai~Story.
The CM shows Gackt’s character sitting alone at his piano, appearing
very sad, while Ryoko’s character also seems sad, as she walks down
the aisle in a wedding dress. There are scenes of their past relationship
together, sharing passionate embraces, cuddling, and taking bubble baths,
ending with a shot of Ryoko walking sadly away. As Ryoko is about to get married,
Gackt bursts into the wedding, grabs her by the hand and they run away together.
The CM ends with the two kissing.

2006
This CM is a continuation of the story told in the previous CM from 2005 and
features the song Love Letter. After running away together, they have become
shipwrecked on a tropical island. They spend many happy moments together,
running on the beach, and being close to each other. Like the previous CM,
this one ends with a kiss.

Tateyama Sake (2002)
In this CM, Gackt is walking in a forest, looking for a "piece"
of his memory when he comes upon a mermaid sitting with a cat. She says it's
been a while since she's seen him, and that she had been waiting. They drink
together, and then she shows him a scale, which is a "piece" of
her. He looks at it and says that he has found that "piece" of himself.
It seems that he had lost his memory, and finding her helped him to regain
the memory of their past relationship. Gackt's voiceover is actually in French,
while the mermaid speaks in Japanese, and the subtitles are also in Japanese.
