Tokyo

Takeshita Doori (竹下通り)
In the 2003 episode of Shoujiki Shindoi, Gackt and Doumoto Tsuyoshi (堂本剛) walked down the Takeshita doori, a popular teenage hangout in Harajuku. They ate crepes from Marion Crepe and when they reached the end of the street, Gackt gave his to one of the girls who gathered around them. ^^ After walking down Takeshita doori, they went fishing in Ichigaya and he visited Tsuyoshi's house. More screencaps of the clip are available in our
Clip Section.

Harajuku is also famous for its cosplays. Cosplayers usually gather there on weekends, and you can also see them outside Meiji Shrine, which is nearby. Takeshita doori is also a famous tourist spot and you can find a lot of merchandises and goods from various fandoms here.

A LITTLE VILLAGE, # 1
This shop is also in Harajuku. Here you can find clothes that Gackt wore during concerts or for photoshoots. If you are lucky enough, you'll be able to see the clothes which he actually wore himself. Some Darts jewelry are also on display in the shop.

You can find ALV in one of the back alleys right at the end of Takeshita doori. Cross the road once you have reached the end of Takeshita Doori and you should be able to see a small road leading away from the main street to your left. Go in and turn right into the next road. The shop will be on your left-hand side.
You can view the map of the shop under "Shop and Staff"
http://www.alv1.net/

DARTS (Darkside Inhabitants, Shinjuku)
You can get Darts items here, including the black onyx bracelet, of course. ^^ Darts is divided into 5 main categories. Each has a distinct style and also has different concepts behind them. For more information, please go to our Fashion Section.

Tokyo Dome (東京ドーム)
As you all know, the final concert for DIABOLOS was held in Tokyo Dome. Tokyo Dome City is also nearby, which is a famous sightseeing spot with shopping centers for adults and an amusement park for young children.
For more details on how to get there, please go to our Concert Venue Section.

Shinagawa Pier (品川埠頭))
Gackt filmed the special video "LIFE" for the VHS release Soyogaze (微風)at Shinagawa pier. This place is mainly used for storing large containers, and is not your usual business or sightseeing spot. However, it is said that you can get a better view of the famous rainbow bridge here than from Odaiba.

Odaiba (お台場)
This location was used most recently for the photoshoot in the magazine Papyrus in 2006. The concert venue, Zepp Tokyo, is also in Odaiba.

One of the famous tourist spots in Odaiba is the onsen park (hot spring bath). The whole place is designed to look like the streets from Edo era and here you can get a chance to view traditional Japanese culture. I believe yukatas are also available for rent inside.

Another famous sightseeing spot is the Fuji Television building. You can take a tour inside and look into the actual sets of some of the television programs filmed there. As you walk down the halls, they also have mock sets of shows like Hey!Hey!Hey!, and you can sit down and take pictures of yourself on these "sets". If you are really lucky, you might even bump into some artists. ^^

Venus Fort
Venus Fort is also in Odaiba. Gackt held a Valentine Special Event here in 2005 to commemorate the release of the album Love Letter. He performed three songs from the new album and the coverage of the event can be found in Platinum Box 6. Gackt held his performance in the church hall (教会広場).
The ceiling in Venus Fort is decorated to look like the sky and it gradually changes to night sky. It has some beautiful structures inside, like the fountain and the olive square. These, along with the church hall, can be found on the second floor.
You can get to Odaiba by taking the Rinkai Line or Yurikamome. The closest station to Venus Fort and Zepp Tokyo is Aomi station on the Yurikamome line (or Tokyo Teleport station if you are taking the Rinkai Line).

Yuurakucho Marion (有楽町マリオン)
The movie premieres for both the first and second Gundam movie, "Kidou Senshi Z Gundam~Hoshi wo Tsugu Mono" (機動戦士Zガンダム~星を継ぐ物) and "Kidou Senshi Z Gundam II~Koibitotachi~" (機動戦士ZガンダムII~恋人たち), held here. Yuurakucho Marion is actually one of the recommended sightseeing spots in Japan. It has 7 theatres and 2 department stores. You can also find one of the branches of Jojoen restaurant here, where Gackt recommended its apple sherbet. It is located in Ginza.

Tokyo FM Hall
This was where Gackt filmed the PVs for the accoustic versions of Kimi ga Matteiru kara, Mirror, and Last Song. This was the first time Dears were invited to participate in the making of a PV. The PVs can be found in Platinum Box 5.
It's 3 minutes walk away from Hanzomon station on Hanzomon subway line.

Shibuya Tower Records
Gackt held an event here in commemoration of the release of the ANOTHER WORLD single. 350 people were chosen out of 12,513 applicants and the event lasted close to an hour. He talked about the single, his inspiration for the song, as well as the making of the PV for ANOTHER WORLD.
Shibuya Tower Records frequently hosts other such events by many famous artists. It is only a few minutes walk from Shibuya station. If you ever find yourself near the area, pop by and who knows, you might see some artists holding some special events!

Hotel New Otani
This is where the movie premiere for MOON CHILD was held.
It is located in Chiyoda, Tokyo.

Club Cube 326
Gackt held his 461st birthday party in this club, chosen because of its name (Gackt released a song titled "Cube" in 2001). They rented the whole VIP room and invited close to 300 people.
It's a 13 minute walk from Tamachi station on JR Yamanote line.

alife
Gackt made an appearance here during the club's third anniversary party in 2005.

Kawaguchi Autorace
Gackt is the image character for Kawaguchi Autorace. He has made a few appearances there over the past few years, usually during a special race event. He usually rides on his bike around the track during one of the breaks between the races and takes part in the award ceremony. He will sit at the back of a car and go around the track together with the winner. He will then present the winner with the award and toast him straight from the trophy cup. Once the ceremony is over, they drive away in the car.
Kawaguchi Autorace releases Gackt's posters almost on a monthly basis. The posters are not very hard to get because they are distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis. You can queue for them on weekends, but you have to be there very early, by around 8 am at least, if you want to get the posters. They'll give you a ticket, but you can only exchange it with the poster after the sixth race is over (usually at about 1-2 pm), so you'll probably have to hang around there for a few hours. They also distribute quo cards, file folders and other merchandises at Kawaguchi.
Kawaguchi Autorace is still worth going to even if it's not for the posters or the merchandises. The whole place is practically a Gackt shrine!! XD They have all his posters, new and old, up on the wall and the notice boards. It is definitely a fun place to go and you should definitely visit it if you ever come to Tokyo. The place is not hard to find either. Just alight at Nishi Kawaguchi station on the Keihin Touhoku Line, board the shuttle bus and it will take you straight to the Autorace. However, do take note that the shuttle bus going towards Kawaguchi Autorace only operates till 2 pm. (There will be shuttle buses provided from the Autorace to the station till pretty late though)

Umi Hotaru (海ほたる)
In an episode of Musix, Gackt talks about going to Umihotaru with Amano of the comedy duo Kyain. One day he calls Amano up and says he wants to go driving. They go to Umihotara because Gackt really likes this place. He loves it because it's the only place that has blue lights like that.
Umihotaru is a floating parking lot for Tokyo Bay Aqua-line and was modeled after a luxurious super liner. It is a famous tourist attraction, especially the deck on the 5th floor which is best known for its panoramic views of Yokohama Bay Bridge, Tokyo Tower and Makuhari Messe. You can also find shops, restaurants and some art works on Umihotaru.
You can board Umihotaru from either Tokyo or Chiba. You can take the bus or go by car (it's a "parking lot" after all!).

Mobil gasoline stand (東京米油(株)下目黒SS)
This is the gasoline stand where Gackt had to work for one night because he lost to Hamada during the games they played in Hamachan To! This gasoline stand is also in Meguro. Please check our Clips Section for more details on how the rest of the night went for Gackt.

Kaminari-mon (Thunder Gate)
This is where they started the Asakusa trip. Gackt and GacktJob members did a pose in front of this Gate. Pictures of the Gate and the surrounding area are also shown in the clip. There are many temples in Asakusa, the most famous of which is the Sensoji. It’s a famous tourist attraction and festivals (matsuri) are held frequently here. If you are planning on visiting the area, you might want to check if they are holding any special events.

The closest station is Asakusa Station. You can take Tokyo Metro Ginza line, Toei Asakusa line, Tobu Isesaki line, or the Tsukuba Express. There are plenty of directions in the station so just follow them and it should lead you to the gate. If you are taking the Asakusa line, turn right once you exit the station and walk straight until you reach the main street. From there, you should be able to see the gate. Asakusa is usually crowded, so just follow the people if you aren’t sure as they are most likely to be heading that way too!

This is a useful map to have. Click on A (or the area highlighted in blue) to see the map for Hanayashiki and B (area highlighted in pink) for Kaminarimon and Asakusa Imahan on it. If you notice there is also an Imahan branch in map A but that’s not the one that Gackt went to so make sure you get the right branch!

Tokiwadou Kaminariokoshi Honpo
Gackt met up with the band members here. The room looks spacious in the DVD when Gackt was sitting there waiting for the members to arrive, but that’s because the tables have been cleared. It’s actually quite a small place. They sell the usual Japanese meals here.

This is right next to the gate but it’s on the second floor so be sure not to miss it! The first floor is a shop selling snacks and candies.

Asakusa Imahan (Sukiyaki)
This site provides information in English. Gackt and the band members ate their lunch here once they’ve all changed into their uniforms. This restaurant serves yakiniku in the traditional style. The staff explains what each dish is and shows you how it’s cooked. They ordered the Yamagata special kuroge wagyuu yakiniku, but when Gekka and I visited the place, we didn’t see that dish on the menu! The band member did the first quiz here after their meal and Ju-ken lost and had to eat a “special” dessert.

This place is a few streets away from the Kaminari Gate. There’s a map showing the directions to Imahan from the station on the website. There’s also a map and a police box near the gate and you can ask the policeman inside for directions. Make sure that you go to the right branch because there are three different branches in the area! The one that Gackt went to is on Orange Street branch. It’s on the right-hand side of the gate. (Don’t go to the one on the left!)
http://www.asakusaimahan.co.jp/english/orange.html

Maberudou
They made a stop in this shop. It’s just a few minutes walk away from Imahan. Photos of old famous Japanese stars and also some American artists are sold here. This is on the main street with shelters over it. If you are coming from Imahan, turn left once you leave the restaurant and then left again into the sheltered street and walk straight. It’s on the left-hand side of the street.

Bell Studio
This is also in Asakusa, but we didn’t manage to find it. They did the second quiz here and You had to change to a girl’s school uniform because he lost the game.

Hana Yashiki
This is probably the easiest to find. XD You can see one of the tower attractions “The space shot” even from the station and the Kaminarimon, so just walk towards that direction. You need to pay an admission fee of 900 yen (adults) to enter the park. The theme park is very small and there are about 10 rides. Just like Gackt said, the attractions are very old indeed. XD Some of the rides that the members took were the duck ride, the roller coaster, the space-shot, and the spinning wheel.

They rode a few rides and did the shooting game as part of the program. Of course, when we tried it, it was the usual small toys and candies instead of GacktJob pictures. XD They made it look easy but it was surprisingly difficult. It’s still worth trying though~ Gackt then had his fortunes told. I did mine too, but it was by a different person. He speaks rapid-fast Japanese so I don’t recommend this unless you know Japanese well! It was quite expensive too, about 2,000 yen.
http://www.hanayashiki.net/

Tsukushi (Monjyayaki)
Once you exit the theme park, walk straight and you’ll see the restaurant on your right. Make sure you get the right street though. You can ask the staff at the park for directions if you aren’t sure.

Gackt and the members had mentaiko mochi cheese monjya here. Monjyayaki is similar to Okonomiyaki, also a traditional Japanese food that originated from Kansai. Even Gackt who doesn’t like monjyayaki said that it was good! Gackt did the third quiz here.

The other side of Kaminarimon
They ended the day here, in front of the back gate and Gackt asked the members for their opinions on what they should do for next year’s PB. Walk through the Kaminarimon and straight along the rows of souvenir shop on Nakamise street and you’ll get there.

Da Hong Yun Tian Tian Restaurant (大鴻運天天酒樓)
This is the first restaurant Gackt recommended when he appeared on Hey Hey Hey with Yoshiki. His recommendation for appetizer was Xiao Long Bao.
The shop is on Meguro Doori, and the nearest station is Gakugei Daigaku station on Tokyu Toyoko line.
http://meguroku-net.com/interior/meguro-other/c3-daikou/p3daikou.htm

Jojoen Yugentei (叙々苑 游玄亭)
This is the restaurant that Gackt recommended for dessert when he appeared on Hey Hey Hey with Yoshiki. His recommendation was apple sherbet (but only the apple and not the sherbet itself!)
The main branch of the restaurant is in the Roppongi area. It is roughly an 8 minute walk from Roppongi station on Hibiya line. Jojoen is a well-known yakiniku restaurant in Japan and you can find other branches elsewhere.
http://www.jojoen.co.jp/html/store/azabu/index.html

Yamato Restaurant
Gackt talks about this restaurant during his appearance on Arizona no Mahou. On the show, he cooks grilled meat like they serve there, and he also brought some kimchee from there that he really likes. He also brings the kimchee from this restaurant to Tsuyoshi's house on Shoujiki Shindoi. Unfortunately this particular branch that Gackt goes to seem to have been closed down. There are still a few branches in Ginza area though, if you would like to try the food of this restaurant.

Bairin Gyouza Restaurant (梅林餃子)
Gackt found this restaurant by chance while he was out walking. He wanted to eat Chinese food, but all his friends ever recommended were ramen (noodle) shops, which he can't eat since he doesn't eat carbs. So one day, he saw this gyoza restaurant and he decided to give it a try.
This Chinese restaurant is in Nakano, Tokyo. You can alight at either Nakano station or Higashi nakano station on JR Chuo line. This restaurant not only makes gyoza (dumplings), but also has plenty of other Chinese dishes on their menu. The price is reasonable too, so it might be worth giving it a shot~

T's Diner
This is where Gackt and Hamada play darts during the first part of Hamachan to! They played two games and Gackt lost both games. ^^; He had to give Hamada something for losing the first game and had to work for one night in a gasoline stand as part of their bet for losing the second game.
This shop has a darts bar and darts competitions seem to be held frequently in the shop. It is pretty similar to the usual American restaurant and they serve Western food, such as steaks and spaghetti. I cannot find a link to the access page and it seems as if the old page has expired. The closest station is Meguro station (JR Yamanote station or Tokyo Metro Nanboku line) and the shop is only a few minutes walk away.
