Explanation:
I chose dears, the song by Gackt that moves me the most out of all of his songs. Even though it obviously wasn’t, I feel like it was written especially for me. I love how it starts out on a melancholy, yearning note and then delves into the future and what you must do to put an end to that restlessness. I chose this lyrics because I wanted to express that restlessness and the feeling that you were born for a reason. Black and white seemed to capture it better than color would. The girl is startled by the birds taking off into the sky, but wishes that she could go with them.

Inspired by: Freesia~op. 1~
Explanation:
I chose "freesia~op. 1" because aside from being one of my favorite of the tracks, I feel it is a little less known than "Vanilla" or "Mirror" and so I thought I might have more freedom in trying to make fanart for it. I didn't want to be influenced by what I had seen before. I tried to capture both the narrative and the mood of "freesia~op. 1" in my submission. The narrative is in the freesia petals, on each showing a moment of the memory Gackt sings of; as they fall, they represent the fleeting nature of these memories. Gackt clutching the freesia bouquet is more for the emotional sorrowful climax; while the rest of the work is subdued, with simple, quiet colors and composition.

Explanation:
She misses her loved one dearly.. and the only place she can still see that person is in her dreams. It's the only time she feels she can revisit those memories. But at the same time, she has 'hand-cuffed' herself to those memories. A prisoner of her own emotions. Because she doesn't want to let go. She doesn't want to forget.

Explanation:
This drawing was inspired by the lyrics below. The girl in the drawing is reaching out to someone from her past that she cannot be with. This person has moved on with their life leaving her behind. The girl is sinking into the darkness of her own despair though she is trying to escape. Her wings respresent her brief moment of happiness in life. As her despair grows her wings are engulfed in the darkness.

Explanation:
With the gothic-ish carnival style of the song, I had first imagined a carousel--and more so this constant rotation. The rhythm of the song, I interpret dizziness and disoriented vision. With 'Illness' in the title, I certainly associated motion sickness with the sound of the music playing. As vulgar as it may appear, all I could imagine was vomiting. The chandelier he is basically throwing up, I wanted this to be like the person Gackt is speaking about in the song—whoever this person is he’s looking for but can’t quite grasp (but still is a large part of his life).

With some of the effects used at the beginning and end of the song, I had this mechanical connection. This is where the idea of the wires and broken machinery in the piece come into play. With the demented feeling of song, it feels like nothing (or your feelings and mind state) are not functioning in a normal manner. I suppose put a little simpler, the piece itself represents more of the disorientation and sickness I feel is portrayed in the sound of this song.

Explanation:
This drawing shows what I feel when I watch/listen to Mars. It is made while my Mars DVD was playing. The feeling is something I can't seem to express with words.
