Gackt Live Tour Requiem et Reminiscence II Announced!
Gackt’s 2008-2009 tour was announced today! The Requiem et Reminiscence II tour will begin on December 14, 2008, and finish on April 11, 2009. So far, 52 tour dates have been confirmed.

Gackt to appear at the 83rd Kenshin Festival
Gackt will be a guest at the Kenshin Festival again this year, playing the role of Uesugi Kenshin. It will be held on August 23-24 in Joetsu City, and Gackt will be appearing on the 23rd.

Virtual Vocalist がくっぽいど (GACKPOID) to be released!
Gackt.com was updated today with news about GACKPOID:

In mid-June, INTERNET Co., Ltd. will launch “がくっぽいど/GACKPOID”, a virtual vocalist software which allows you to use Gackt's voice to sing specific melodies and lyrics. Following the popularity of 初音ミク (Hatsune Miku) [1], a Gackt version which uses the same vocal synthesis technology “VOCALOID 2” by Yamaha will be released! Details on the price and release date will be announced later.

[1] Hatsune Miku is the first installment in the Vocaloid Character Vocal Series which uses the VOCALOID 2 engine.

To Hollywood At Last!
It has been confirmed that Gackt will perform as an actor in a Hollywood movie! Filming has begun on Snoot Entertainment and Picturesque’s new movie, “Bunraku”, which will star Josh Hartnett (“Pearl Harbor” (2001)), and Demi Moore (“Ghost” (1990)). Gackt caught the attention of Hollywood when he performed as Uesugi Kenshin in last year’s NHK Taiga drama, “Fuurin Kazan”. Guy Moshe, who wrote the script and will serve as the director of the movie, was eager to cast Gackt as the partner of the protagonist, played by Josh Hartnett. The director went to Japan himself, and personally met with Gackt, attempting to persuade him with much enthusiasm. Gackt was touched by the director’s enthusiasm, and readily agreed to performing (in the movie).

Gackt’s comment:
I think it’s an honor that my performance of a new Uesugi Kenshin in last year’s Taiga drama, “Fuurin Kazan”, has been recognized (around the) world. I had great interest in a role wherein I could express the spirit of Bushido[1] as the partner of the lead character, played by Josh Hartnett, in a movie that’s set in a borderless world of the near future.

More than anything, I was touched by the director coming to Japan himself, and the way he continued to passionately talk about his hopes for this movie and for my performance; I could really feel the need for me to be in this movie, and I readily agreed to perform.

I want to prove that even among the big stars representative of Hollywood, my performance, my expression, is world-class. Please wait with (high) expectations. I’m going to go fulfill one more dream.

Eneru's Big Adventure Character Debut
A campaign to promote environmental issues will begin this year, featuring Gackt's pet dog Ener (Eneru). To find out more, visit Eneru's new site.

The concept is “LOVE OUR PLANET”

Ener, Asia’s leading artist Gackt’s pet dog, will start his great adventure this 2008. Born in 2006, Ener is a male long coat Chihuahua who joined Gackt’s family a year after he was born. At about the same time [Gackt] made his appearance in the 2007 Taiga drama in July, Ener also made his first appearance in front of [Gackt’s] fans at Gackt.com, Gackt’s official website, in the fanclub members-only blog titled “Foot Soldier Ener’s diary of the Feudal Lord”. As Gackt’s “foot soldier”, Ener introduces Gackt’s private life as well as his activities as an artist and posts daily on the blog with pictures, thus gaining immense popularity [amongst the fans]. However, as mentioned in the blog, there was an unfortunate incident last December that greatly saddened many [1]. It was the sudden death of Bell, Gackt’s pet dog who had been with him long before Ener came and who had shared Gackt’s many ups and downs.

By creating this character of Ener, we hope to make his, as well as Bell’s, existence a meaningful one and one that will last forever.

We hope that he can grow to be a character loved by people of all ages, and by fans and non-fans alike.

We hope that his existence can become one that is useful to other people… That is why we decided to make the concept “LOVE OUR PLANET” (The Things We Can Do).

As fellow beings born on this earth and who love this planet, as well as for the sake of our unborn children…

Surprise appearance at Takada High School graduation ceremony
Gackt made another surprise appearance at a high school graduation ceremony, marking the second time this year that he has made such an appearance (see the March 2nd news item for information on his visit to Kami’s alma mater). This time he went to Takada High School, in Joetsu City, Niigata prefecture (the area is well known for its ties to Uesugi Kenshin); apparently Gackt is a friend of Takada High School’s principal. He surprised students when he appeared at the end of the ceremony and sang 「野に咲く花のように」 (No ni saku hana no you ni).

After the performance, he encouraged the new graduates with words made famous by Uesugi Kenshin: 「運は天にあり、よろいは胸にあり、手柄は足にあり」 (“un wa ten ni ari, yoroi wa mune ni ari, tegara wa ashi ni ari”). This was a surprising addition to his usual words of congratulations, and showed his continued connection to Uesugi Kenshin, whom he portrayed in the drama Fuurin Kazan last year. The graduates were truly surprised and deeply moved by Gackt’s appearance and message of congratulations.

Music included in Furuya Tooru's new Gundam tribute album
Gackt’s music will be included in Furuya Tooru’s (voice actor who played Amuro Ray in the Gundam series) new mini-album called “HEROES~to my treasure~”. The mini-album is a tribute to Gundam, and will include seven songs. The lyrics to the song “ララの夜想曲-Nocturne-” were written by Gundam director Tomino Yoshiyuki, and the music was written by Gackt.

The album is set to release on March 26, 2008.

Gackt sings “君が代” (Kimi ga yo) at the WBC flyweight title match
On March 8, 2008, Gackt sang the Japanese national anthem “君が代” (Kimi ga yo) at the WBC flyweight title match. After an intense 12 rounds match between defending champion, Daisuke Naito, and his long-time rival Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (Thailand), it finally ended in a draw and Daisuke Naito managed to keep his title and his belt.

Gackt sang the national anthem during the opening ceremony of the match. It was reported that Gackt and Daisuke had been friends long before Daisuke earned the WBC flyweight title in 2007 and gained fame. Their friendship started three years ago, after a mutual friend introduced the two. “We hit it off well from the start. I was still unknown back then, but it didn’t matter to Gackt and we became friends [1],” said Daisuke Naito. Since then, the two often met for dinner and they continued their friendship. Both of them also attended last year’s Kouhaku Utagassen, Gackt as an invited singer and Naito as a judge.

Gackt performs at Kami’s alma mater
Every year, Gackt makes a surprise visit to high school graduation ceremonies and performs 野に咲く花のように (No ni saku hana no you ni). This year, he chose ex-Malice Mizer’s drummer Kami’s alma mater.

“You only live this life once. You will never get back the time that you lost. (Kami and I) often fooled around and quarreled with one another while struggling with the unknown future. If he was still alive, I think he would come here to give you all encouragement (lit. push your backs). So today, I would like to do that on his behalf.”

After a heartfelt performance of 野に咲く花のように, Gackt told the students, “A dream is not something to be dreamt, but something to be fulfilled. Follow (your dream) through with determination. Congratulations on your graduation.” (As translated from Hochi Shinbun)

Barks interview clip
There’s a new interview clip at the music entertainment site, Barks. In the clip Gackt discusses his cover versions of the songs on the new album, 0079-0088, and his thoughts about Gundam. Near the end of the clip, he writes down his favorite line spoken by Char ("良い女になるのだな").

There are two new interviews available online. The first is by Orico and is about the "Save Our Dears" campaign, and Gackt talked about the reason why he decided to start this project. He also talked about his role in the Taiga drama, as well as Uesugi Kenshin's motto, "Honour". The second article is by Oricon Style and he talks about his new album and Gundam. There is also a video comment by Gackt that you can watch in the second interview. Near the end of the video, he said that the tour will be starting soon...

Appearance in Kidou Senshi Gundam movie memorial box DVD premium screening event (機動戦士ガンダム劇場版メモリアルボックスDVD発売記念プレミアム上映会)
Gackt made an appearance as a secret guest in the screening of Kidou Senshi Gundam memorial box DVD which was held in Kinokuniya Sazan Theater in Shinjuku. Gackt went on stage and presented Director Tomino with a bouquet of flowers. Other guests include Hikawa Ryuusuke, Shinjo Mayu and comedian duo America Zarigani. After the event, Gackt held a press conference together with Director Tomino.

Save Our Dears campaign
The sales of charity goods for the "Save Our Dears" campaign has now started. In an effort to raise funds for victims of the July 16 earthquake in Niigata prefecture, Gackt started the "Save Our Dears" campaign. Profits from the sales of the charity goods produced by Gackt will go to the victims of the earthquake. Items for sale include keyholders and bracelets (2 designs). "Dears" is what we call Gackt's fanclub.
There were also members of Dears who were hit by the 2007 Niigata earthquake.

Overseas release of CDs and DVDs
On September 14, it was announced that Gackt will begin releasing CDs and DVDs in North America and Europe starting in September. The two video clip collection DVDs, “The Greatest Filmography 1999-2006~RED~” and “The Greatest Filmography 1999-2006~BLUE~” will be released in North America (United States and Canada) on October 19.

In Europe, the CD DIABOLOS will be released on October 26, followed by the release of a live DVD. 18 countries were identified for the European releases: United Kingdom, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Netherland, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Russia. More information about these releases can be found at Gan-Shin Records.

n addition to the CD and DVD releases, Gackt’s entire catalog of music will be released for distribution on iTunes. iTunes is an online store through which customers can buy and download singles and whole albums for use on their iPods, computers, and other devices. The distribution via iTunes will begin on October 17 in 22 countries around the world.

Welcome to Eien no Yume!

After more than a year in the making, we are happy to finally announce our opening~ We chose this day to open because August 30th is the date when Gackt's song, 再会~Story [Saikai~Story] was released. Saikai means "reunion", and it is our hope that each time you come here, and on every anniversary of this website, you will feel as if you are reuniting with Gackt and all his fans. 

Hopefully you will have as much fun exploring the site as we did making it! Well…actually, we hope that exploring will be a LOT more fun than some of the nightmares we faced in making the site… XD But yeah, we hope you find it an informative and fun place to be! 

Navigate the site by clicking on the buttons on the right and left columns. Most of the sections contain subsections, so there’s a lot of content hidden behind those buttons. ^^ If you want to know who to blame and/or thank with gifts the crazy people are behind the making of the site, be sure to check out the About Eien section!
